Griffin Canning Eats Innings “Valuably,” Cementing Himself into 2025 Rotation in Another Deflating Loss

3-2 Tigers

Okay, so maybe I’m listening to our guys in the booth a bit too much. In my defense, it’s gotten to the point where it’s preferable on a daily basis to watching the field. I couldn’t stop hearing about the inherent value of Griffin Canning eating innings the past two seasons and why that would make it worthwhile to bring him back next season. Literally anyone can swallow up innings. Give me league minimum to throw away the next 5 years, for the love of God.

I’m so glad that I was irritated enough by the play-by-play to have missed Spencer Torkelson mashing one to put the Tigers up by two in the bottom of the second. And I was so busy seething about their discussion, that I almost missed us only scoring 2 unearned runs off over 4 innings of literally the worst pitcher in Major League Baseball in Kenta Maeda.

You wanna know a more interesting stat than whatever I could talk about that happened in the game? We are twenty-four times as many games below .500 against the Central, East, and NL as we are against the AL West. If anything, we should count the “close” game as a win and celebrate.

Good job on the bomb Mickey.

It’s official, the Halos don’t like Canning.

Saw this in the write-up at ESPiN:

>At one point during Maeda’s stint, Tigers catcher Jake Rogers went to the mound for what was supposed to be a pep talk.

>“He claimed he was speaking Japanese,” Maeda said. “I have no idea what he was saying.”<

I’m guessing it was one of those idiotic “You-uh oo-get-oo heem out-uh, okay?”

Been a fan many years, and this has to be the worst offense ever. The veterans suck, 3rd base has been with zero HRs, worse DH position, kids got over hyped and now disappeared. Washed star player always hurt. Angels should have signed Joey Votto and talked Cabrera out of retirement. Offense wouldn’t have been worse and at least we get to cheer for 2 Legends heading to HOF. Heard Ichiro pitching in Japan too.

They did, however, face the great Kenta Maeda, who happens to have the worst ERA in baseball of pitchers with at least 90 innings pitched!

The slump buster Angels will do that for struggling teams and players.

Zero hits with RISP – yeah, don’t think you’ll win many games doing that.
