Angels lose to Nats in Extras

The Angels went to Washington. No. The District. Of Columbia. Not the one with the Columbian river. Anyway, it was Rendon’s old home. Back when he played Baseball. Remember when he played Baseball? That was fun. I think both the Angels and Nats regretted Rendon leaving. The Nats have had 19 different 3B since he left. And the Angels have only had 28. What.

At least DC still loves him

But he wasn’t pitching. That was Soriano. He went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits striking out 7 and walking 1. Great start yet again for the young pitcher.

Great job kid

Too bad the offense didn’t do much and the Angels lost 3-2 in extras.

Highlighted Recap

DC scored first in the first.

1-0 Walgreens

But the Angels answered with 2 in the second! Thanks Jo Adell!

2-1 Angels

It was a pitching duel otherwise. Oddly fitting for a game vs 2 not that good teams. Both longing for the past glory.

Too bad Quijada blew it in the 8th, allowing the Nats to tie the game.

Tied game

Both teams could do nothing else the rest of the game. Meaning EXTRA INNINGS TIME!

Rendon went 3-5 but struck out in the 10th with RISP. Shaking my head, Rendon of the Angels.

And then in extras, the Nats walked it off Joyce. Angels lose. I blame Rendon for this.

Upcoming

More games vs the Nats next two games. Maybe we can leave Rendon with them. Swap with Corbin? Maybe next year.

Until someone decides to put Guillorme in to pinch hit for him late in the game, because….. matchups??? It can’t be because of Guillorme’s shitty batting average.

Never understood or liked the matchup strategy: always seems substituting a lesser batter based in theory: shitty hitters produce shitty results. I didn’t watch last night but figured maybe Stefanic was hurt. Batting gormet buffet for him seems ridiculous

It was a late inning defensive replacement with the Angels leading 2-1. I did not agree with it but that is what it was.

A Garcia Pile update: https://x.com/Jared_Tims/status/1822133904826069050

He was the hottest prospect the Angels got in the Luis Garcia Trade, if the just turned 20 year old keeps pitching like this it wont be long and Yeferson will be moving on up the levels.

Vargas reminds me of a young Ervin Santana.

Definitely Closer in age to an Ervin Santana than his previous fraudulent name of Johan Santana that made him a year younger.

Moore winning at DSL

DSL Angels just won again, they are now 33-17!

Hayden Alvarez went 2-for-4 with a double

Joswa Lugo stole his 15 bag of the year.

They’ve also given up the least runs in the DSL this year

Vargas was the piece I was most interested in in that trade.

In a normal year, Lugo + Vargas would be a perfectly satisfying exchange for a Garcia. Lugo (though currently on the IL) looks like a future bench piece, and Vargas is the sort of younger development arm you’d hope to get for a few months of a bullpen guy. Vargas is lower probability, but higher ceiling, esp if his velocity keeps improving.

Today’s pitching matchup.

Might be a high scoring affair.

Canning 4-10 5.10 ERA

Corbin 2-12 5.88 ERA

Or it will be a shutout of both sides for 9 innings only to lose 1-0 in the 10th.

Soon to be 27. At this point I’d rather see this guy with the big league club than Drury.

Gustavo is a converted catcher who looks like he can hit. We know The Angels have such a rich history of success in this area but not sure why the Angels gave up on him behind the dish . I wonder if he can also play in the infield.

Dodgers added Dusty Baker to their “Legends” at Dodger stadium and giving Gusty bobble heads away. Joe Davis MC’d and Reggie Smith was Master of Ceremonies, Dusty was deserving. 😊

Sam Bachman 1st Start at AAA.
4 innings – 1 hit – 0 earned – 1 walk – 2Ks – 42 pitches 28 strikes
Had a rain delay, I guess that’s why he went only 4?

Not sure if it was the rain delay or maybe an alarming loss in velocity?

Not sure who someone is. Maybe it was 2002?

Hope it’s 2002 harassing him and not more arm problems. (Of course it’s his arm, trAdition)

2002 might be getting desperate, not liking the improving farm system.

so maybe that makes their off speed pitches more hittable? Is this why that Bazzana dude was so coveted?

Damn, I was hoping some one would take him off our hands. He does seem to have a penchant for game winning hits Someone needs to wake him during the rest the game though since a career OPS of .550 in A ball may not cut it. https://x.com/Jared_Tims/status/1822140585848815887

First off, I just flat out hate the ghost runner. Secondly, I would like to point out that our pitching over all is decent, it’s our weak suck hitting looks good to some because our .150 to .250 hitters can and do have a good game one-two or three games a week because they got a hit. This month should tell you how many kids will appearing in the Bigs to get experience. Drury-goner, I hope is first. Rebuilding is not a nasty word, embrace it. I know I am being redundant.

Tonight was most def on the offense. Two runs allowed through nine innings by your pitching is great. The bats went silent, except for Adell’s shot.

Darn, same Angels, show up and play tuff vs a good team then immediately find ways to lose to a lousy team. No blame on Joyce, what was Guillermo doing? That was catchable, he got out of the way and tried to glove it.?? You don’t get paid MLB dollars to dodge baseballs in the field. Sad

Soriano with another electric outing.
Adell finding success after scrapping the leg kick.
Christian Moore 4-4 with 2 HRs in AA.
