Morning Angels fans, have some links.
Angels News
Disney+ Ohtani documentary November 17th. Thanks Brent.
Maybe part of it will be Ohtani teaching Brandon Marsh how to hit better. Seriously, do any of the Angels coaches do anything?
Around Baseball
Welp, Baltimore got swept which means the Rangers are in the ALCS for the first time since 2011. And it is the first time since 2011 that there are no AL East teams in the ALCS.
Houston is up 2-1 on the Twins and are a game away from having an all Texas ALCS. I am going to puke.
What is really weird is that Baltimore did not get swept in the regular season only to get swept in October. Last time that happened was the Padres in 1998.
Actually, all 3 AL East Teams got swept. Best division in Baseball? Hardly.
But maybe the current playoff format is off and needs changing. The 100 win teams have only had 1 win so far this postseason, that is very unusual. And that is only because Harper screwed up.
Anything I missed? Post below for upvotes.
Hmmmm…. the Majestic Sea Flappy Flaps are out….. so are the Murder City Happy Birds. The Miami Booji Fish, gone. The Milwaukee Drunks… sunk. I liked all those teams. Who is left?
I actually like both the Phillies and Braves, so I’m a happy wash there. Shockingly, I actually like the current Rangers team. I can say that because I don’t give a shit what any of you limpets think. They can go ahead and enjoy winning till the Angels can compete. I like the Twins, but they are toast, so I guess I want the Rangers to beat the AssHats. I really like the Arizona Serpentes de Beisbol. Wouldn’t mind if they finish off Duh Doyers tonight and then make it to the WS.
But DBags, Braves, Phillies, Rangers…. I still have plenty of teams left in the post season that I think it would be fun to see win. Huzzah.
I wonder how Shohei’s mom is feeling right now…. and Derek Jeter…. can we get some gall dern footage of Jeter and Ohtani bathing each other or something?
The Dodgers look old and sad. They should spend 500M on a 30 year old.
So, have any of the Demand Ah Champ CtPG guys I’ve seen demanding and champing since the season ended commented any on the FAs Arte should try to sign?
Or is Demandachamp just demanding someone “get it done” still, completely free of ideas or, you know, thoughts?
Want to know one reason why I want the Angels to just cave in and rebuild this year? Look at the available FAs the next couple seasons. It doesn’t matter how commitmentish to champihamshit Arte is at this point, all the money in the world can’t make new available FAs to sign.
If you’re feeling stressed just remember. Arte still owns the team and Anthony Rendon is still incredibly wealthy and well liked. The world is the world. The Steelers beat the Ravens…. so we all have that. And pizza.
Today/tonight is the official “Dave Roberts brave face day.”
campanis.wav – Dave Roberts on whose fault it is: “Ain’t my f***ing fault? The Laptop is the f***ing guy.”
IMHO, it’s not Roberts’ fault, but he’s been to the mountain top (With a top three payroll club) and took the tumbling way back down several times. I don’t see how he’s at the reigns next year if the Blew Crue get swept, or lose out of the PS.
Dave Roberts must be called out, held to account and other stupid terms the kids use these days.
My generation said, “Called on the carpet.”
Well at least Grandpa’s trying to earn his keep

What is the teaching moment?
A. How to effectively GIDP, best hand placement on bat.
B. Best spot DYI Steroid injections into wrist. No pesky trainers shooting you in the ass.
C. Rock, paper, scissors for Del Taco food run because Arte doesn’t feed them.
D. Pull my finger rookie.
In Spanish, “See, you change the last digit of 0 on your birth year to an 8 or 9….or a 1 to a 7.” Then they think you’re a phenom.
Todays CtPG Winning reply
Yep, for a measly $1M a year, he’ll get out of the limo, go chop it up for 15-30 minutes, check his iWatch, then stroll 35 yards back to the limo and go home. Personal services at its finest.
The best advice he can give those kids is to get out of this organization
Ouch.
A little harsh wouldn’t you think?
D@mn, that stings!
One of those kids will be our starting right fielder next year.
This is the best use for him as I’ve said in the past- I do think he adds value there
Anaheim not so much
Funny, here I spent pretty much all year praising the new rules but here I’ll complain about the expanded playoffs.
I agree with you on the way they’re handled. Yes, start on Thursday or Monday. More importantly, forget these extra days off. All season long it’s play 3, fly to the next town and play the next night. There’s no need for 2 games, then a day off. Or, worse, 1 game, then a day off, then a 2nd game, then another day off.
Meanwhile we often see bad teams take a series from a better team during the regular season. That’s how baseball is. I don’t think rest equals rust. If we think it’s not fair because the top seeds are losing then we probably have too many teams in the playoffs. I mean, if we’re trying to rig it so that teams like the Dodgers and/or Braves and/or the Orioles win this round then we shouldn’t have let the Diamondbacks, Phillies, Rangers in at all. But since we did then we have to accept that the wild card teams can win (2002).
This was not an issue when we had 4 team from each league, the 3 division winners and 1 wild card since they all started at the same time. It was even ok with the 5th team, with the 1 game between #4 and #5 and it would probably be ok with 1 game between 3 and 6, and 4 and 5 to pare it down to 4 teams.
But you know…I think of the NFL and how the wild card winners regularly get smacked down when they play Kansas City. There’s probably more parity on baseball.
I would imagine that’s because they want all playoff games to be at night. In the regular season, back to back games in different cities usually means the last game in City 1 is a daytime game so the team can travel afterwards.
This is definitely all about the TV money. 2 games per day means they can straddle prime time on both coasts.’
That said, if I paid the TV money and had my game go up against Texas/Oklahoma one day and the NFL the following day I’d be less than happy.
In Japan the wild card round is best 2 of 3 with the higher seeded team getting a game in hand. If the higher seeded team wins the first game it is over. At most it goes two games.
I’d do that for the series that involves a division winner as the higher seed. Get it over by Wednesday and get that series started on Thursday. The other series could be traditional best 2 of 3 and start on Friday.
So we’d have 2 series start Thursday, 2 Friday, limit the dead time for top teams and give them more of an advantage.
Yes that eliminates a travel day after the Wild Card round, but you can avoid that by being a top 2 seed.
It’s TBS broadcast- their executives figured it was best to go up against ESPN and Fox with playoff baseball.
The one big thing to me that was messed up was the NL day off Sunday- they just should have not started all 4 games on the same day if they wanted staggering.
But these organizations- tv and mlb have millions riding on these decisions so I’m sure they have analyzed it and picked the best decision to maximize profits.
Though I’d like to see the Dodgers lose in 3, I really think this round should be seven.
Got a Covid shot yesterday so I would not get sick, today I feel like death is at my doorstep. 💀
Sorry to hear that. I got one yesterday as well, and I feel completely normal today.
Hope you’re better soon.
I’ve only done the one but I had a gnarly headache for a day. And I never get headaches.
Too many teams make the Playoffs. 162 game season and you win 100+ games and the get knocked out. Baseball doesn’t need to send so many teams into the Playoffs, why play the regular season? Owners want an additional 2 more teams added into the mix. I guess it is all about greed.
tell me you’re not a Diamondbacks and Rangers fan without telling me you’re not a Diamondbacks or Rangers fan.
its only Dodgers and Orioles fans complaining about the five day layoff and expanded playoffs.
Texas and Arizona think it’s all FAN-TASTIC!!
feel better Gramps!!
They have reached the limit of playoff teams that should be allowed…Personally I like it.
Reward the teams and their fans!
IMHO, they need to do away with the division winners getting almost a week off, no round 1 bye for division winners. That’s not an advantage for teams. Everyone gets Monday off, everyone starts Tuesday, except League best record starts Wednesday.
Of course it’s about greed. This concept of “do what’s best for the game” if it did exist – it was before WWII and not since television.
Ownership..which elects the Commissioner…makes decision based first on the personal financial interest of the owner, secondarily based on the impact to ownership in aggregate, third based on the fan (for marketing purposes), and lastly on the game itself. The employees (on and off field) are nothing more than expenses that reduce profitability.
Yes, it could be argued that there is no revenue without the players. However as the WWE has proven “on air talent” (entertainers) can be created very easily.
it could be argued thatthere is no revenue without the players. But I am very interested in the eventual Robot MLB. Already anticipating the Angels will suck at that too…
Would love to see the dodgers lose today.
Happy Donkey! I hope Lynn gets lit up like a Christmas Tree!
I’ll laugh, and laugh, and regale with delight seeing the Doyer hopes and dreams being crushed by the Desert Snakes!
If Shohei wants to win a WS, he should rule out the Doyers!
Donkeys luv sneks.
It’s a beautiful day for a ballgame, for a ballgame today 🎶

I’m going to say that I am very unimpressed with the 12 team playoff format. Maybe it’s my old school bias, but it just seems like too many teams to me. It dilutes the playoffs in my opinion.
Also – a 100 win team sitting around and waiting for a wildcard round team is a disadvantage to the 100 win team. The wildcard team is coming off winning a series and is playoff ready. The 100 win team is waiting around for 3 or 4 days and getting cold. In baseball that can make a huge difference particularly in a 3 game series.
Philly v Texas would be an interesting WS
