Let’s assemble the best possible Angels team by letter of the alphabet to begin a player’s last name. Today is the scrap heap, the letters that so few Angels have had begin their last name that a team could not be fielded. Those letters are: i – Q – U – Y and Z. No Angel has ever played with the last name starting with “X” yet.

Not a lot to pick from but Zahn, Raisel and Cliff Young all had an ERA+ over 100 while pitching here.

This is the final installment of this feature, it was a fun time and maybe during this season we will see a good performance by a player with a letter starting their last name and can speculate if they make their alphabetical team. Or of course, the opposite… there may be obscure Angels from the past who suddenly shine when compared to a tanking contemporary. But let’s keep hope alive as we go through the dregs of the alphabet.
