Wild and Crazy Postgame(s)

The Diamondbacks game

Tyler Anderson had a pretty good day in the Diamondbacks game as did Anthony Rendon (three hits) and Jo Adell (two run homer). Anderson threw six innings of scoreless baseball. I guess he’s not injured.

In the top of the fourth, Jordyn Adams singled and Brett Phillips drove him for another run. 5-0 Angels.

The Angels loaded them up with two outs for Brett Phillips in the top of the fifth inning. Phillips lined out.

In the top of the sixth inning, Gio Urshela singled, Rendon doubled, and Adell reached on a strikeout. Logan O’Hoppe doubled and just like that it was 7-0 Angels.

Get a load of this thing breaking down Anderson’s day:

Ryan Tepera walked Geraldo Perdomo and then threw a wild pitch to put him on second. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. doubled to drive him home. 7-1 Angels. Tepera then got a couple of strikeouts to get out of trouble.

Carlos Estevez came in to pitch the ninth inning. He got a couple of outs with a hit in between. Then he hit Dominic Fletcher with a pitch resulting in an injury delay. Fletcher left the game. Estevez got another strikeout to end the game. The Angels won this one 7-1!

Over in the Oakland game,

Taylor Ward led off the Angels half of the first inning with an inside the park home run.

Ward got another RBI by means of a single in the bottom of the second inning.

Victor Mederos allowed two runs in his two innings of work. Matt Thaiss picked off Ramon Laureano at third base, which was pretty cool.

But Egad!

Ben Joyce came in for the top of the fourth inning and walked Jesus Aguilar. He then uncorked a wild pitch to send Aguilar to second. He gave up a single to Ramon Laureano to score Aguilar. He then added a second wild pitch to send Laureano to second base. He then hit Ryan Noda and gave up another single to Esteury Ruiz to score Laureano. It was not a good inning to say the least. They caught Ruiz stealing to end the suffering at a 4-4 tie.

Luis Rengifo homered to make it 5-4 Angels in the bottom of the fourth.

Livan Soto made an error at third base in the top of the fifth inning that didn’t result in any runs. In the bottom of the fifth, Soto singled and Luis Rengifo doubled to put men at second and third with two outs. Unfortunately, Jared Walsh grounded out to end the inning.

In the seventh inning David Fletcher doubled and stole third. He got gunned down at home plate on a fielder’s choice. Werner Blakely reached first base. No scoring this inning. Sorry!

Kevin Smith got a walk but Myles Emmerson gunned him down stealing second. It was a pretty good eighth inning for Mason Erla. Unfortunately, he started the top of the ninth inning by issuing a four pitch walk to Pablo Reyes. Kyle McCann singled to place men on first and second with no outs. Ryan Noda reached on a fielder’s choice, but the bases were loaded with no outs thanks to an error by first baseman Trey Cabbage. Christian Pache grounded into a double play but Pablo Reyes scored. 5-5 tie. Tyler Wade then doubled to score pinch runner Jose Escorche. 6-5 Athletics. That was it for Mason Erla and Jack Dashwood replaced him. Dashwood got a strikeout to end the top of the ninth inning.

Trey Cabbage made up for his error a bit by hitting a single. Myles Emmerson doubled to center but Trey Cabbage was thrown out at home plate. Jeremiah Jackson struck out. Jose Gomez hit a fly ball out to end the game. The Angels lost this one 6-5.

I’m going to be contrarian and say (to my own surprise) I LIKE Bobby Valentine as a color commentator! He is terrible in front of the camera, but he had a lot of insight as a guy that’s been around the game for so long. Look out Gubi! Like him more than Denny at least.

Also, who cares if Ben Joyce throws 105. I feel like not enough people are talking about how sexy he is.

Wish I coulda found the game with no announcers. The bro-tastic duo is getting monotonous

Well, Rendon is still fooling only those who will be fooled again into thinking he’s not total trash. Urshela’s thought he could trick me by playing SS but I’m onto him. Turns out Anderson isn’t dead. He only pitched 6 shut out innings, so shame on him. I see you Anderson. Warren, Herget, Wantz…. the donkey squad’s onto you too. You secret suck. As do Rengifo, Walsh and Ward. I feel a weird compulsion inside me to post a headshot of Avisail Garcia or Kyle Tucker or Roger Craig…..
