Giant Slalom Postgame

Tucker Davidson started today. He gave up a couple hits and a balk to make it 1-0 Giants after the first inning. Overall, he did strike out five guys so there’s that.

Jo Adell resorted to the long ball to tie things up in the top of the second inning.

In the bottom of the second, Davidson struck out three guys in a row but the third one reached base safely thanks to a wild pitch. He walked the next batter and then Thairo Estrada doubled in two runs to make it 3-1 Giants. Wilmer Flores hit what was ruled a single to Andrew Velazquez. The throw to first base was a little weird and drew Jake Lamb off the bag. The throw glanced off Lamb’s mitt and Estrada scored all the way from second on the play. 4-1 Giants.

Jake Lamb doubled in Brett Phillips, who had walked. 4-2 Giants.

The Giants responded with a double and a single to make it 5-2 Giants. With Giants at first and third, they executed a successful delayed double steal to make it 6-2 Giants. Andrew Velazquez got an error for his throw to the plate.

Livan Soto homered in the top of the fifth inning to score Brett Phillips who had singled. 6-4 Giants. Jake Lamb doubled once again and Hunter Renfroe then homered to make it a 6-6 tie.

In the bottom of the seventh inning the Giants parlayed a single, a stolen base, and a ground rule double into a run. 7-6 Giants.

Kenny Rosenberg pitched 3.2 innings of good relief until former Angels first round pick Will Wilson jacked one in the bottom of the eighth inning to make it 9-6 Giants while scoring Thairo Estrada in the process.

To make a long story short, the Angels lost 9-6 Giants.
