Angels out MVP Yankees

The Angels face the MFY one last time. Already lost the season series, the Angels hope to scrap by with at least the home series win, if only to screw the Yankees over as their playoff hopes are nonexistent as they had been for a while.

Patrick Sandoval was tasked to go up against Richie Rich Gerrit Cole. Sandy went 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, striking out 7 and walking 2. He outdueled Cole, which was a win in his book. Now it was up to the bullpen to make sure it is a win for real.

Sandy man can

As for the offense, the MVP did MVP things. Ohtani was putting up a show yet again, trading blows with Judge throughout the series. The Angels did get some help by a couple of MFY errors, like this one.

Highlighted Recap

It was all pitcher duel at first, with the first run of the game coming from a Yankee double that could have been caught.

Still would have been a sac fly I guess

And he allowed another thanks to a sac fly.

2-0 MFY

It was a sloppy 5th that looked to doom the Angels due to Cole being on the other side.

That is, until Ohtani stepped up and had himself a best play in baseball.

BIG FLY OHTANI-SAN!

Angels were now up 3-2!

MVP

It was now up to the bullpen to get the last 6 outs. First up was Jose Quijada. He threw a scoreless 8th.

Jimmy Herget was in for the save. He walked Judge, which, well, is smarter than pitching to him. Judge stole 2nd. The Jimmy walked Stanton. It was stressful for sure.

Donaldson struck out. One out. Torres struck out. Jimmy was one out away from escaping this and getting the win. A groundout and THE ANGELS WIN!

SWEET VICTORY

Angels win the series!

Was that Matty V on the Ohtani HR call ?

It was stupid. Why would Shohei be saying “Good morning” to New York ?

Because that was the meaning of the Japanese phrase Matty V suggested that Shohei was saying to New Yorkers after he hit the HR…

😂 I lol’d at that, too. That was pretty dumb. “Good morning” at 11PM NY Time. Duh.

“Oyasumi nasai New York!”

Uh oh. Has anyone checked to see if Kuhl & Carpino are OK after their team beat one of their favorite teams? Maybe they should try to get back on the right side of things? Offer Aaron Judge a jar of KY Jelly with a bow on it along with a nice card and a hotel room key?

I don’t even care if the new owners are tools as long as I get to wake up one morning knowing those dog farts are gone.

Good win. Come on Rays and Os.

I love to see the passion out of Sandoval. I love to see him pitch through trouble and keep going. I love to see Nevin let him keep going. I love to see Shohei make those New Yorkers ave some self-doubt about their MVP. Team is playing great and it’s weird.

Just re-watched the 9th and Jimmy was fan eff tastic. Full pack, and I don’t even smoke.

Judge and Stanton walk. It’s looking bad. 2 on, no out, 1 run lead. Jimmy Ks Donaldson, and I screamed so loud the neighbors had to have heard, “Sit the fuck down ya POS!” Same thing with Gleyber! Then Jimmy gets Cabrera to ground out meekly to 2nd:

MFY SUCK!
Yank-Mees LOSE!
Ohtani MVP! (?)

Gerrit Cole’s body language as soon as Sho made contact: priceless.

Jimmy started off real shaky. He had one sinker that really got him cranking (vs Torres i think – edit: it WAS vs Donaldson)

Yea, when Jimmy grooves with his slider against righties, it starts to look like wipe-out-level stuff. Batter sees it coming in over the plate, and it tails and hits the inside corner, and a lot of guys swing at it when it ends up 3-5 inches out of the zone. He was missing with it outside against Judge and Stanton – maybe being too cautious – but he absolutely made Donaldson look like a fool. He IS a fool, but anyway…

Always nice to have a game that reminds you that you actually do in fact like the sport still haha.

The only thing missing was deafening MVP chants after the Sho-Bomb to make up for the chants for Judge earlier.

Oh well.

Nice callback to the old days when we played tough the Yanks tough no matter what our record was.

Go Halos!!

I really hope we Angel fans get a make up call of sorts for 2012s Cabrera robbing Trout of an MVP… Ohtani better best out Judge this year!

Like so much else, that was Cokehead’s fault. He was too busy snorting off of a stripper’s ass to hit two more HR. If he had, there would have been no “ZOMG! TRIPLE CROWNZ!!!”

Yes, great win! It was a close, exciting game, Sandoval, he of the league minimum variety, out pitched Cole, he of the “holy shit, your contract is how much?”.

Gerrit Cole. 116 ERA+ and 2.5 WAR (36 Million)
Patrick Sandoval 133 ERA+ and 2.5 WAR (league min)

Farhan Zaidi, totally not involved in this….

just watched the Ohtani HR 3 times. First, to see it get out. Second, to watch Cole’s reaction. Which was fun. Third, to watch Ohtani’s reaction, also great fun.
