The Angels face the Rangers again. While this normally would be a happy occasion, the Angels got swept last time these two teams met. In this short two game series, any loss is unacceptable.
Noah Syndergaard faced the Rangers yet again. This time, it went much better. He went 8 innings, giving up only 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 5, while walking none, all on 93 pitches. Thor had his power back, and it was refreshing to see.
A Chargers WR gave the team mojo as right after he appeared on camera, the offense exploded.
Walsh and Marsh had themselves a day, both being the highlights of the offense and defense.

Things were mostly quiet to start with, a pitching duel unlike last time.
That changed in the 4th. Brandon Marsh showcased why he should be in CF instead, making a great catch!
Angels scored a lot in the 4th, starting with Luis Rengifo who drove in the first run with a groundout.
Another run scored on an error, making it 2-0.
Then a 3rd run came in on a perfect bunt by Wade, small ball ruling the inning.
A sac fly scored the 4th run of the inning! Good on you Squid!
Walsh added on in the 5th, hitting a solo shot above the line. 5-0 Angels.
Defense was great this game for the Angels, with even Thor holding his own.
Jonah Heim continued to be a pain though, getting one off of Thor, ruining the shutout in the 8th. 5-1 Angels.
Aaron Loup closed out the game as it was a non save situation. Marsh made another great catch for the second out.
Loup did give up a solo shot right after, however. It was now 5-2.
A walk meant no more funny business, D-Cell was in for the save. Tyler Wade almost made a great catch to end the game but it bounced right out of his glove when he made contact with the ground. A run scored, 5-3 Angels, uh oh…
Jonah Heim was now up again, the player on the rangers who has single handedly ruined every game so far against the Angels. this time, however, he struck out.

Good win. Not to be a Debbie downer, but being realistic, I was hoping Loup would finish the 9th. The Angels BP has allowed too many home runs all year ( one of the worst). I think once that improves I’ll have more confidence in them. When Fletch gets back to 2nd and with Stassi back the defense should be upper tier. That will give me more confidence in close games. They said it all game with Thor – keeping the ball down. Sweep tomorrow. LFG!

I mean, Arte could have nothing to do at all with Skaggs death, nothing to do with a drug dealer in upper management, nothing to do with the league sticky stuff distributor extraordinaire, and nothing to do with dirty dealing for the stadium deal….but man, that sure is a lot of bad looks.
I have said I assumed the Angels had to bribe some people, but it occurred to me that I need to see how vehemently Arte fights Anaheim. I don’t think he’ll go to the mats if it’s as simple as “Arte paid the mayor an Angels duffle full of money.” He’d just be putting his chin out at that point. So maybe he didn’t do any bribes? But if not him, who would be bribing for what? He is the only Qui that I can think Bonos.
I really do think this gets all the folks who want a new owner a little closer though. He’s got to be more open to the idea at this point/age. Then we can get an enthusiastic tech billionaire to buy us and we’ll be awesome just like the Trail Blazers after Paul Allen bought them…. and we move to Monterey, Mexico…. or Granada Hills. Downey? Montebello?
At this point I assume no new/rebuilt stadium as planned, period. More concerned about how ugly it gets in court. Until I hear that Arte isn’t tied to this deal and will be either heavily fined or forced to sell, I’ll assume the worst. And I’m sure we’ll start getting news right before the trade deadline and he’s not going to add payroll because of impending legal costs. I’m sure the FBI and those investigating this shit have a hard on for the mayor and other public officials involved, that doesn’t mean Moreno didn’t do illegal shit too.
Baseball in that stadium for another 7 or 8 more years, I won’t complain. Maybe we’ll win a few WS Rings in that time and they’ll be forced to love Arte. After all that, hope they just stay in SoCal.
