Fright Night Postgame!

Here we go!

Inning #1

Brandon Marsh came up and hit a fly ball out to center for one away. David Fletcher didn’t take many pitches to make his out on a pop up the third base. Shohei Ohtani ended the first by hitting a fly ball out to Fright FieldTM. (Happy Halloween!). We got ’em Fright where we want ’em!

Josh Harrison struck out to lead off the game. So far so good. Starling Marte hit a fly ball out to center fielder Brandon Marsh. So far so good. Matt Olson homered to Fright center. Oh well! Mark Canha walked. Oh well … double oh well. It might be a short night for Mr. Suarez if he doesn’t figure this out pretty soon. Right after a meeting at the mound, Chad Pinder doubled. Mark Canha scored. The meeting did not compute, apparently. Matt Chapman also doubled to score Pinder. It was 3-0 Athletics with two outs. There was another mound visit, but Suarez got Khris Davis to ground out to Rengifo and stop the bleeding.

Inning #2

Suarez is still out there. He got Sean Murphy to line out to left field for the first out. Elvis Andrus grounded out to Mayfield. Josh Harrison doubled to center. Starling Marte lined out to Fright FieldTM. Maybe this will be OK. It’s still only 3-0.

Phil Gosselin flied out to Fright FielderTM Chad Pinder. Jared Walsh grounded out to second. Luis Rengifo also grounded out to make the second inning nice and short. Umm! Was that the plan? (Still trying to figure this out.)

Inning #3

Matt Olson hit a fly ball out to Fright FieldTM. Mark Canha popped out to second. Chad Pinder grounded out, also to second.

Jose Rojas singled to Fright FieldTM. Max Stassi then struck out. Scary, no? Jack Mayfield also struck out. Brandon Marsh hit a fly ball out to center to end the inning. Side eye!

Inning #4

Matt Chapman struck out. Khris Davis grounded out to third base. Sean Murphy also grounded out. Maybe Suarez is catching on.

David Fletcher grounded out to third. Shohei Ohtani struck out (Scary kids! Really scary!) Phil Gosselin also struck out. All right. It’s not funny any more, man! The object of the game is to score runs; preferably more runs than the other side. Maybe the offense is not catching on. The outlook is not positive.

Inning #5

Elvis Andrus singled on a sharp liner to center. Josh Harrison lined out to Luis Rengifo. Starling Marte struck out swinging. Matt Olson walked “driving” Elvis Andrus to second. Mark Canha grounded into a force out, Rengifo to Fletcher.

Jared Walsh hit a fly ball out to center. One away. Luis Rengifo did the same. Two away. Jose Rojas followed suit to make it three away. Here is an image of Starling Marte out there waiting for the ball to fall into his mitt.

Inning #6

Chad Pinder singled to Marsh pretty much right away. Matt Chapman hit a fly ball out to left field. Khris Davis did the same, but only after Pinder stole second. Oliver Ortega came into the game at this point to face Sean Murphy. who struck out swinging

Max Stassi came up and struck out (yet again). Jack Mayfield doubled on a line drive to center. Brandon Marsh hit a fly ball out to left field and then David Fletcher gounded out to second to end the inning. This sucks!

Inning #7

Ortega walked Elvis Andrus to start the seventh inning. Josh Harrison lined out to center. Then Starling Marte grounded into a double play Rengifo to Fletcher to Walsh.

Check it out! Shohei Ohtani single to lead off the seventh inning. Phil Gosselin hit a fly ball out to Fright FieldTM. Jared Walsh singled to bring Ohtani to scoring position (at second). Luis Rengifo grounded into a double play to end the inning. Well, wait a minute! The Angels challenged the call on the field and it was overturned. It’s just a force out. Bob Melvin got ejected for arguing. Jose Rojas singled to drive in Ohtani from third and it is a 3-1 ball game. Then Max Stassi struck out to end the inning. This is not a rally.

Inning #8

Mike Mayers came in to replace Oliver Ortega. Matt Olson struck out after a bunch of pitches. Mayers threw pitches outside in the dirt which Mark Canha seemingly couldn’t resist swinging at. He struck out, of course. Chad Pinder hit a fly ball out to second baseman David Fletcher. Gappa approves.

Our old buddy Yusmeiro Petit came in to face Jack Mayfield. Mayfield grounded out to third. Brandon Marsh then struck out swinging. David Fletcher popped out to the catcher in foul territory. Gappa angry!

Inning #9

Jimmy Herget came in to replace Mike Mayers. Matt Chapman hit a fly ball out to Fright FielderTM Jose Rojas. Jed Lowrie came in to pinch hit for Khris Davis and struck out. Sen Murphy then hit a fly out to Luis Rengifo to end the Athletics half of the ninth inning.

Andrew Chafin replaced Yusmeiro Petit. Up came Shohei Ohtani who singled to center. Heck yeah! Can Gosselin do anything here? Nope! He lined out to Elvis (Heartbreak Hotel) Andrus. Jared Walsh hit a fly out to center field. Now we were depending on the fugitive, Luis Rengifo. Amazingly, he singled to Fright FielderTM Chad Pinder to keep the game alive. Jose Rojas walked. The game is still alive and there was a mound visit, obviously not by Bob Melvin. Max Stassi lined out to second. Game over. Don’t lean so far back on that railing Vi, it’s not that bad. Well maybe it is. I’m so Tormented!

Absolutely. Now we just need something from the Baroque era.
