Indians beat Angels 9-1

Inning # 1

David Fletcher got a one out walk on four pitches but the Angels were unable to advance him.

Jaime Barria gave up a three run homer to Franmuil Reyes after a pair of ground ball hits through the left side.  He did not seem to be fooling many in Cleveland.

Inning #2

The Angels went three up and three down.

Barria threw a slider that didn’t slide and the Cleveland team had their first batter on with a single.  Two outs later Myles Straw doubled in Chang for a run. (4-0 Cleveland)  Then Rosario doubled in Straw to make it 5-0 Cleveland.  Barria finally got out of it with a strikeout.

Inning #3

Suzuki got the Angels first hit to start off the third inning.  He made it to second base on a wild pitch.  Shohei Ohtani singled to put runners at the corners.  Fletcher then hit an RBI single.  (5-1 Cleveland)  A double play ended the inning.  Thanks Gosselin.

Sam Selman came in to replace Jaime Barria.  Cleveland had runners at first and second with two outs when Yu Chang singled to load ‘em up for the second baseman Jimenez.  Luckily, Jimenez made a shallow fly out to end the inning.

Inning #4

The Angels again went three up and three down.

Jose Marte came in to replace Sam Selman.  He was doing pretty well until Jose Ramirez got a two out hit.  Ramirez did steal second, but a subsequent 4-3 put out ended the inning anyway.  Go towel off some of that sweat, kid.  Hopefully Suzuki saved the ball from your first big league strikeout.

Inning #5

Trevor Stephan came in to replace Hentges as Cleveland pitcher.  Marsh hit an at ‘em ball to second for an out.  Suzuki then hit a double to left center.  Shohei Ohtani came up with two outs and a man on second.  He struck out to end the inning.

Zimmer struck out.  So did Wilson Ramos and Bradley Johnson.  Nice!

Inning #6

Three up three down once again for the Angels.

Junior Guerra came in to pitch for Jose Marte.  After two outs he allowed a Myles Straw double and a walk to Rosario.  He let the next two guys get on and served up to score Straw and Rosario.  (7-1 Cleveland, no problem!)  He allowed another run, but finally struck out Wilson Ramos to end the inning.

Inning #7

Three up three down yet again.

Let’s face it. The Angels did nothing for the rest of the game and Cleveland won 9-1. Not an easy game to write about. I don’t have any highlights for you..

Wow a picture with a caption. How novel. Unfortunately math and economics are not your strong suit. You can’t just yearn for the good without accepting the bad. Avisail signed a 2 year 20 million contract with the brew crew in 2019 . His 2020 .659 OPS season was below replacement level. And Remember, when he signed with the Brew Crew was right after the Angels declined Kole Calhoun’s option so I don’t think they were looking to sign an inferior defender with the identical 2019 OPS as Calhoun who’s only benefit is he was 2 years younger. Plus the Angels had Brian Goodwin to man right field who was a much much better bargain. Considering that Arte had just shelled out $245 Big Ones for Rendone without addressing their biggest need then ( and even now) which is pitching , Signing Avisail Garcia would have been even a bigger mistake.

No hindsight kudos for you….Next!

Ah Yes…….like our outfield defense this year.
along with Willie Mays out in LF making $21M a yr and your well thought prudent comments. Kole Calhoun has been mostly injured since joining the AZ. How about offensive production, or does it matter? This blog has ridiculed Nick Castellanos in Cincinnati too while he just keeps making a mockery with his quiet first rate hitting. Sorry if it hurts that we overlooked better, productive and cheaper options ( along with Mark Canha, and Kyle Schwarber ).
Can’t wait to see Juan Lagares again!!!! Wow!!! 32 yrs old and making $2.5M along with his -0.4 WAR.

Our OF defense THIS year? Really, did you predict 2/3 of our OF being on the IL the bulk of the season.

I guess not, since you are also suggesting one should have known Calhoun would be injured (while playing for someone else, so we aren’t paying for him, so I *just don’t understand*.

Castellanos was locked up in the Tigers system when we signed Upton, so again, I have no idea what you are on about.

Canha was under arbitration. No wonder he is cheap, right?

Schwarber got a 10M contract coming off a .191 2020. We would have all screamed bloody murder. Both Teheran and Quintana were better bets for a rebound, but them’s the dice. Nats didn’t even keep him a whole year though, so?

Do you even try to make sense?

I am watching the Post Game Show on Bally’s, and why don’t they give Alex Curry a more important position on the broadcasting team?
So much better than everyone else they employ, she controls the flow so damn well.

She was making me want to watch the replay of the game, so I looked at the boxscore, and then the GameThread. Damn she good.

Not a fan of Alex. Just doesnt do it for me. I think Pat O’Neal is a much better broadcaster.

See – I don’t get that. First I don’t find her hot. Guess it’s just a matter of personal preference. And second, isn’t that a bit of a demeaning way to evaluate her as a broadcaster? Seems very Roger Ailes.

I’m sure all of the women wearing tight fitting outfits on MLB Network were hired for their broadcasting abilities, lol.

I think she has positions covering other teams so they don’t give her an essential spot in our broadcasts.

Barria back to sucking. The slider has no bite, is sent to hitters on a tee.

Is this a surprise? This team smells like 84 wins. It smells like musty dog with a bit of cedar closet.

I’d take 84. Are you kidding? That’d be terrific. 84 without Trout and with our pithing. Oh yeah!
