Dylan Bundy was on the mound today as the Angels tried not to get swept vs the A’s. He did not help with that, giving up 4 in not even 3 innings. But the offense and the bullpen did their jobs and the Angels avoided utter humiliation.
The first inning went well for Bundy as he went 1-2-3 to start the game. In the home half, a Rendon walk was all that the Angels could muster.
After showing how well Bundy does in the first 3 inning, Dylan decided to mess that up by allowing a leadoff home run. And then a walk. Then another home run. 3-0 A’s. For the Angels, a hit by Churches was all they got.
The 3rd is when it completely fell off the rails. Bundy allowed a leadoff triple, and another 2 hits was enough to end his day. 2 and 1/3 innings. That was it. 4 ER in not even 3 innings. Slegers came in and stopped the bleeding. Not that the offense could do more than a Fletcher walk. 4-0 A’s.
Slegers allowed hits so he was yanked for Cishek, who didn’t allow them somehow and no runs for the A’s this time. The Angels on the other hand did score thanks to a couple of hits and a Walsh groundout. 4-1 A’s.
Cishek had a good 5th inning and the offense was back out there. Angels got 2 on but failed to score.
It was another good inning for Cishek, but he only went 2/3 of one and was pulled for Mayers. It worked as he got the out, but there was so many more outs to go in the game. Jared Walsh hit a home run vs the A’s new pitcher to make it 4-2 A’s.
Mayers muscled through the 7th to keep the A’s at bay. Fletcher got a walk and Upton got a hit, and then Rojas pinch hit a sneaky hit to bring home the 3rd run. A Rendon walk made it bases loaded and Ohtani pinch hit for Lagares. He hit it far and hard but at a fielder, a sac fly, 4-4 ballgame! Churches was up next and he also got a hit to drive in the 5th run!
Brand New Game
With a lead now, Watson came in to replace Mayers. He walked the leadoff batter and then another walk. Then when it looked like he was getting out of it, he throws it past 1B. Tied game. Closer Iglesias came in and a mass panic fell over the crowd. He got a pop up to end the inning somehow, with the game still tied. Oh and Ohtani was now in the outfield. That was the type of game it was.
The bottom of the 8th started great with a Ward walk. A sac bunt by Suzuki and a hit by Fletch made it runners on the corners for Upton. A sac fly scores him, Hot Pocket made it 6-5 Angels!
Last 3 outs are the scariest and with a 1 run lead, closer Iglesias came back out. First out was a fly out. Second out was a strikeout. And the 3rd was also a strikeout! The Angels win!
The Angels are now 20-27 on the year and face Texas next, a Texas team that just swept Houston.
Dylan Bundy, Andrew Heaney, Jose Iglesias should all be dealt before mid June and their trading stock falls off a cliff. We’re stuck with Justin Upton until next season. Yes we need to tank, because we need the high draft picks and prospects that we can get. No HS players should be taken before the 3rd round. Gotta get busy on Latin America ( especially Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico ( BTW a US territory WTF!! ), and Aruba ( formerly Dutch Guyana a small island country in Northern South America ). No Cuba or even Venezuela ( until strained geo political relations get better ). No HS catchers, only SS, 3B, CF, SP should be drafted in the first three rounds……..There I feel better today.
Just to nitpick, the former Dutch Guyana is now Surinam. (Aruba is a Caribbean island.). I don’t think they play baseball much in Surinam….
I was focused all day on Phil. What an incredible accomplishment!
Gosselin? Why what did he do?
He learned that swing from Vladdy.
IT is always nice to in, ten times in a row would be even better…
After a frustrating incident with security I had a blast at the ballpark today.
My son loves his rally monkey and got into it when the monkey was on the board.
Ohtani getting the heroes welcome was awesome.
Positivity for the day. ‘Yes we can, Go team!’
Solution of the day. Don’t resign Bundy, what ever we thought he had, has vanished.
If we must, 1 year, low dollars. Best to move on.
I knew all along we were going to win that game 😄
I just want to thank Budweiser for finally getting Bud Zero to California because after that game I really needed a beer
Even if it is non alcoholic
we have a potgame! GO HALOS!
Pot, you say?
The crazy sons of bitches did it.
Can’t believe it.
We brought out the cup, but didn’t butter it.
Put it back in the cupboard , I’m sure we’ll use it next time
Do we actually want to win? We all know we can’t win this year the way it is constructed. So should we just hope for losses for draft picks? The most exciting part of this season is going to be the draft this year I don’t remember the last time the Angels had this good of a pick.
I just can’t do that. Life’s too short to not to pul for and enjoy every win.
opining for draft position in may. holy guacamole!
we can win a lot of games and still get good draft position. I do not want to go 20-142.
Angels picked 10th in 2017 and 2020 but yeah, been a while for a 9 or higher pick.
Don’t Fuck with the Angels after the 7th inning!
D-Cell be like
I came here to post my daily rant, but they go and do this! This team never fails to disappoint
Anyway…trade EVERYBODY, get Perry out of hiding, and sell the team! I’VE BEEN AN ANGLE FAN SINCE 1845 AND THIS IS THE WORST GROUP OF PLAYERS TO EVER TAKE THE FIELD **SHAKES FIST AT CLOUDS**
As I think every time we win, maybe we’ve hit rock bottom and we start improving from here. If that’s the case, 7.5 games back is not insurmountable. One can hope right?
I’m one of those doofus homers as well. No matter how bad, or how many years it’s been, I keep holding on to the hope until they’re mathematically ruled out.
Winning streak help. We really haven’t had one
I was never good at math. Hasn’t that already happened?
Nope they have at least until August __
