AAAAngels Best Twins 7-1

Alex Cobb returned today to pitch vs Minnesota. It was one of those 7 inning doubleheaders that Manfred imposed upon everyone. Alex Cobb had a great game, 5 innings only 1 run. The hits came from all over, and Cishek didn’t blow it.

Recap

Alex Cobb started the game off by inducing a ground ball that Rojas botched. But he recovered from that to get a double play and out of the inning with no runs. In the bottom half, the umps blew a call at 1B and didn’t overturn it, which was made more infuriating as Gosselin hit a home run next AB. 1-0 Angels after 1.

With a lead now, Cobb immediately allowed back to back hits to put runners on the corners. He struck the next guy out but allowed a sac fly to tie the game up. So the offense had to get that run back. Lagares doubled, Rojas walked, and Fletcher reached on an error by Donaldson. Bases loaded, 1 out. Churches popped up. But Gosselin was up and he cleared the bases with a double! 4-1 Angels.

Cobb decided to not blow it this time and had an easy 1-2-3 inning. The Angels got a hit by Ward but that is it.

Alex did it again, another easy inning. Fletch got a hit but that was all.

In the 5th, Alex Cobb had yet another 1-2-3 inning. Rendon got a single and Taylor “Blake” Ward hit a home run! 6-1 Angels! Suzuki got a hit and Lagares doubled him home, 7-1 Angels!

Despite a low pitch count, Cobb was done after 5, and Cishek was brought in. Also Walsh was too, playing 1B. Cishek wasn’t clean but he got 3 outs with no runs. Churches hit a single but that was it.

Cishek came out again to finish the game. And he did it without issue. 1-2-3 for a win!

The Angels are now 19-24 on the year. Next game is vs the Twins in just a few. Celebrate and cross your fingers for the next one.
