Angels end Spring Training, lose 6-4

Jose Quintana had his last start before games count, and it did not go well. He went 5 innings, giving up 6 runs on 7 hits (4 home runs) and 2 walks. To be fair, it is the Dodgers with their full lineup, but it is not exactly encouraging.

The offense, like this site, realized there was a game at 7 PM and scored their first run in the 4th with two solid hits by Trout and Upton. Which also meant they were lifted and had ended their spring training.

Mike Mayers did a good job, though. In his 6th straight scoreless outing, he looks to be one of the most reliable guys in the pen this year. Also saw Steve Cishek make his Angel debut. Pitched himself out of a jam.

Raisel Iglesias got 2 outs in the 8th before getting himself into trouble and getting pulled. Jose Saurez came in to get the last out of the 8th and made everyone sweat as he looked wild, walking two before getting a strikeout.

Not that the offense did anything else until the 9th, but that is when they woke up! Gosselin hit a 3 run Jimmy jack to make it a 2 run game. 2 on for Jose Rojas with 2 outs, but he came up short.

Games start for real April 1st, and that is no lie. Fans will be back, and we are so glad.

I do not like the TV announcing crew. Pena should be post and pre game and Sutton needs to fly home to Georgia and make it a one way trip. Steve Pysioac (forgive his last name spelling as I do not know it) would be a huge improvement. Gubi is just fine, maybe the best “color Man” the team has had on TV. This group with Sutton asking question after question and Mota praising everyone in sight and Gubi being strapped down by not feeling the chemistry is just a nightmare. In the trios defense it took me years to appreciate Victor Rojas, but there was chemistry between him and Gubi that was fun most of the time. Only real issue with Victor was he thought he was more Baseball smart than anyone in the room.

Give Daron a chance to become re-acquainted with the job.

Victor had a Dennis Miller style that rubbed me wrong for awhile.
Sutton should be just fine if he calls what he sees. During slow periods of play gubi can go into some of the pitching analysis. Occasionally send it down to Jose for on the field highlights of coaches/players variety. It’s really not a hard formula. Hasn’t been pleasant to listen to so far. Also sucks watching the Dodgers hit a bakers dozen or whatever it was HRs over 3 games.

Jose Mota is talking things up for Chris Rodriguez, who could stand in line at Walmart and not be noticed. BTW he was a Billy Eppler draftee…….so what does that tell you? KTLA morning weather anchor Henry DiCarlo also mentioned about our shaky pitching…….I mean even the Kardishian Sisters probably know about our pitching Arte!

I could care less about the play by play even if Pauley Shore and Dennis Miller were are team, as long we won.
This is not a very good team on paper except for 3-5 players and hopefully we’re in the MLB’s worst division to even have a chance. This is how I roll, and I’ll see yah all by Memorial Day 2021 to see how my predictions compare to the rest of you.
I usually win going back to HH in 2017.

The broadcast didn’t seem as bad tonight. Quite a bit more focused on pxp, IMO.

It’s no longer Spring Training, but it is early. 😉

I’ve noticed Sutton being a bit amped but as I’ve had a few games on in the background I don’t think it’s anything beyond repair.

If we’ve noticed, I’m sure the Angels have as well and he’ll get a note. And like anything, the more you do it the less gittery you are in a new job and you relax.

We’ll be fine. Just as long as we don’t have to play the A’s, The Rays, The Yanks, The Twins, The ChiSox, The Dodgers or The Padres . Those teams only make up 57 of the 162 games this season so thats nothing.

Then there’s always the way we play down to competition we are supposed to beat
