LA Angels Monday News Crash- Two Way Day

On Sunday aka two way day, Shohei Ohtani pitched while batting leadoff. Ohtani was good. The Angels were not. The Angels also suffered an embarrassing 11-2 loss to the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.  David Fletcher made a very impressive defensive play. So did Mike Trout and here are some very good photos of the exploding beer incident.   In this list of the top trade pieces for each team, Brandon Marsh is listed as the Angels most likely to be traded this season. Meanwhile, there are those who think Jared Walsh will have a breakout season.

Hamstring Injuries

Felix Peña will miss two to four weeks with a grade 1 hamstring strain.  This is a blow to the Angels bullpen plans and Perry Minasian acknowledges that the Angels might be in the market for another bullpen arm.  Carlos Carrasco also has a hamstring issue.  He’s the Mets problem, though.

Tommy John Surgeries

Jimmy Cordero of the White Sox had Tommy John surgery.  So did Dedniel Nuñez of the Giants.

Sleaze Bag Of The Day

Thank the FSM that this guy is not in the Angels system.  We still haven’t lived down the Mickey Callaway scandal.  Twenty one pounds of meth plus some oxycontin? It looks like he is in for an extended stay at an Arizona facility.

Links From Around Baseball

Apparently, Robel Garcia is having a good spring.  This would hurt a lot more if it weren’t for the surplus of existing Angels infielders who are also having good springs.  Is this the year the knuckleball makes its triumphant return?  Only one MLB player tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week.

Bizarre baseball clip of the day.

The Gal sitting next to the exploding beer was too busy looking on her phone had no clue what was happening until she was getting sprayed.

I wonder if the exploding beer dude was pissed that he had to exchange a Michelob Ultra for Coors Light?

Asking the real questions… I’d be too delirious with the signed Trout bat to care, but ‘colorado water’ would be my choice over ultra.

If Wright makes whatever team and gets a win with his knuckleball, will his interviews be all deadpan?

I was Caesarean born. Can’t really tell, although whenever I leave a house I go through the window.

Oh yeah? Well, I went to a restaurant that serves “breakfast at any time”. So I ordered French Toast during the Renaissance.

I’m sure he was gonna get paid more than $500. Hate when these guys try to become victims and/or play dumb

In general, yes, but this kid is from Sinaloa the home of the worst cartel in the world. Those guys don’t ask, they tell.

If he was from pretty much any other place, I’d be with you. But Sinaloa is different.

I’m willing to bet every penny in my pocket those oxy’s turn out to be fentynal, though.

This guys doesn’t get a benefit of the doubt with me. I don’t care if he was from Sinaloa or Timbuktu. I’m sure the methods for getting drugs here and distributed all across the country are more complex than I could ever imagine. Pawns still play in chess. If he was of any use authorities could’ve turned him to get to a bigger player. Fact he was driving like an idiot, played dumb, and used his athletic career to distribute are good enough for me to feel just in not liking him… or any players on the board.
Anyway just read Barreto is out 4-6 weeks. That sucks.

Or does it? A lifetime career .175/.207/.342 Hitter who’s out of options at the major League level? Now if we can only get Dexter Fowler to develop some mystery ailment we’ll be styling.

Funny you bring that up (getting injured). I had a coworker that pitched in the minors and maybe a day or two in the big leagues that said more players got hurt/claimed their injuries once they were on a california team because our workers compensation is better than let’s say Florida. I know this is the case for public agencies when they get deployed to other states… we get to use our home state of CA as our injury site rather than FL. People wouldn’t deploy otherwise. I had never thought about the private industries and how getting hurt works.
I meant it sucked as in our depth is already kinda bad. And I still wish Rengifo had been traded for what was it Hill and Joc?? Haha

Pretty sure it’s mostly a numbers game. I watch way too much Narco stuff on Nat Geo.

Basically look for someone with a visa or citizenship or a truck going through a NAFTA port of entry. Hide it best you can and know that a small percentage get caught.

Those who get caught can rat but their family gets murdered. And when you get out you have to work off the debt you owe for the drugs you lost.

A pitcher who hasn’t made mo way in over a year is a great candidate, cone to think of it.

Well that would certainly suck. And probably not that surprising when you think of it. Hopefully we don’t see any more players get drug into it

It was reported as Colorado yesterday. Dude was speeding and swerving. Not good with drugs in the car.

Or the cops knew he had drugs and used the good old “swerving” excuse. I wouldn’t put it past the cartel to give up 20 pounds as a diversion so they could sneak ten times that amount somewhere else.

So instead of “Trouble with The Curve” it was “Trouble with The Swerve” ?

Walsh needs to pick it up this week. If his bad spring spills into April it might be Rojas who ends up partnering with Albert.
