A’s @ Angels Spring Gamethread 03/20/21

Mostly full lineup on the first day of spring.

Would rather not have Fowler TBH

Gametime!

I don’t see us passing the As or Asstros in the standings until we actually do.

All right I’ve seen enough, let’s just finish this early and go back to Anaheim

Did Arte cheap out on the spikes? Never have seen so many outfielders leave their feet.

Well you don’t have to worry about that problem with Albert.

Barria and the long ball. A love/hate relationship.

And the Love part of that relationship is…?

I think we need to pray for a 4th option for Barria although I’m sure we’ll get the old “he’s just working on some things” or ” You know how the dry air affects his off speed stuff” official party lines despite a pretty crappy spring.

He seems to love them because he serves them up with frequency.

Wondering if Walsh can regain his stroke. He tends to be a slow starter, and is under scrutiny, given the fluky nature of his 2020 sprint.

Jose Rojas nipping at his heels.

Yep I was thinking the same thing. Walsh has options so they could have him figure it out at SLC. Rojas’ defense at first would be more than adequate and the dude has been a total hitting machine. The Angels would have to add him to the 40 man though. It’s Kind of puzzling that no team took him in the Rule 5 draft.

Rojas and Walsh have similar track records for non-prospects coming up at the same time. Both lefties, but Rojas offers more positional flexibility.

Doesn’t surprise me that Rojas was passed over in the Rule 5 draft. He’s a 28 yo 36th rounder without an MLB plate appearance yet. More of an NRI guy for most clubs.

Is today a simulcast? Cuz Terry talks way too much for a TV broadcast

Thought Fowler would have been positioned better with Olsen up
