Milwaukee beat the Angels 10 – 9 in a slugfest today. Guerra pitched 1.1 scoreless innings. Other than that, the pitching was not so hot.
Turning now to the offense, Rendon, Adams and Rojas had one home run each while Justin Upton hit two. They drove in all the Angels runs except the one Graterol drove in on an RBI hit. Nine runs is a lot. When your pitchers give up ten runs in seven innings, that is too much.
Kurt Suzuki committed a throwing error. Oops!
Tomorrow is another day.
Heaney will be fine, he’ll battle. With or without a pitching coach. Spring has never been his gig.
Contract year for Heaney, he’s gotta step it up. Though he was clearly working on stuff today so won’t read too much into it.
What a weird game, but it was great to see J-Up on fire.
The attempt to deaden the ball clearly didn’t work today.
Love the occasional ST game like this. Pitchers are primarily working on locating fastballs at this point, not real game sequences. Whatever.
I think they wanted Heaney to work on something today. They brought him back in after they took him out. Maybe they showed him some video or something.
I often think, in games like this where both teams are scoring big runs, that something else is going on, maybe some screwy baseballs or wind conditions. When so many pitchers look bad it just doesn’t make sense that they’re really awful. Like golfers who shoot 64 one day (not me, that’s for sure) and 79 the next when the wind gusts and the pin placements are tough.
not so good for Heaney. I don’t care about the other guys much. Chris R. can learn from it.
