03/04/2021 Angels at D’backs Game Thread

Griffin Canning takes the hill at Salt River Fields, a gem of a Spring Training facility that as a Cold Stone Creamery out in center field and some solid bacon wrapped hot dogs on the councourse.

Man, I miss going out there. And I’m hungry…..

Enjoy the game here with all your CtPG friends.

Angels get to bat in the 9th.

All right! Slegers got through an inning without allowing a run. Is that even allowed?
Edit: An inning pitched, anyway. It looks like he must have done one batter last inning.

He certainly does seem to be earning himself a spot in the bullpen.

Who is the Angels minor league defensive coordinator? That dude should be fired with prejudice like yesterday.

Is it me or does Gosselin look like a somewhat mini version of Mark Trumbo?

It was the early ones we could have skipped. It was good to see Slegers and Reed towards the end.

There’s been a certain consistency of all of the Angel pitchers today

Bard may be very happy his name is not embroidered on his shirt before this inning is over.

Switching to number 7 did not do anything to help huh?

Terry: “The 2-1 pitch. Inside, now 2 and 2.” He’s been saying goofy things like this since the start of the game. Or my favorite: “That pitch way outside- he missed.”

Why is he so late to these things? Isn’t there a delay with TV?

I’ve noticed this problem on other telecasts. Its like he not even there. or can’t see whats happening. Is he in the same crappy trailer in the Big A parking lot looking at a monitor like Victor & Gubi had to do last year?

Dave Niehaus, Seattle’s announcer, used to drive me nuts. Describing a pitch: “and that one’s over”. Delay of a couple of seconds, then “but low”. Or, if a Mariner hit one to the outfield he’d be shouting “and that one is lined into the gap!!!!” delay…then “and Anderson glides over and makes the catch”

jeez. I missed the 2nd inning, just got back a few minutes and now just checked the box score. That’s a nice outing for Bumgarner.

Marsh don’t need Adell to hit him in – he’ll do it himself!!
