The biggest news in the baseball universe came out of the Big Apple as Steven Cohen bought the NY Mets for $2.4 billion. He’ll now have the pleasure of paying Bobby Bonilla until 2035.
Our own Turk’s Teeth has been touting Jared Walsh for years both publicly and in our group chat. Others are starting to take note as well. Is Walsh the replacement for Pujols? At any rate, savor this moment as the years of toil and sacrifice are paying off and he’s living out his dream.
More meaningful than all of the other hardware in his trophy case, Mike Trout is the Angels nominee for the Roberto Clemente Award and you can vote for him here. It is pretty incredible and inspiring to see what the other team’s candidates are doing to improve the world as well.
MLB Power Rankings are out and the Angels are at our lucky number 27.
Accomplishing this while having two legitimate MVP candidates on the roster is incredible. The folks at the betting window are calling this a very tight race. If I had a vote it would be Bieber all day.
In the NL, my money is firmly on Fernando Tatis Jr. His Padres will take on the logo stealing team in Chavez Ravine this week and first place could change hands.
There was a bit of a scuffle between the two teams Monday night.
SF fan favorite Pablo “Panda” Sandoval has found another new home. I’ve seen him interacting with fans at Spring Training. He loves the game, loves the fans, and will play until somebody tells him he can’t.
Hope you are safe and well. We have a couple of weeks of Angels baseball to go, let’s enjoy it while it lasts.
Arte, throwing his opinion into the ring.
I’m glad it’s the team I cheer for, and I love this site.
Arte’s irrational, self-destructive meddling, and perpetual hiring of feckless yes-people sure make a lot of sense now don’t they? Not to mention the shafting of minor leaguers, scouts and other essential team staff during a time of crisis, and general disregard for organizational development before that.
I seriously think we should look into organizing some kind of Packers-style fan takeover of the team. Rev’s art empire should get us a percentage of the way there. Who else is down? Let’s coup this thing!
He always did. He backed McCain, and Bushes.
I also nominate Rev’s art pile, ha ha.
Let’s get the In N Out founders to buy the team and rebuild the stadium with multiple In N Outs on each level!
Well, that’s just like his opinion man.
Love Arte. Good to see he’s got his head on right when it comes to politics, not so much when it comes to baseball.
Since Pujols has taken so long to get 660 you think he will retire after next year? His body doesn’t look like it can survive much more out there.
Yep, he will be done after next year, and then start his “personal services” contract.
Unless StL puts some money on the table. If fans are in the stands next season, he’ll play with the team he gets inducted with. Cheap cheap.
STFU Dave, that was a magnificent homerun, and it deserved what it got from Grisham. He was boosting his teammates that were cheering him on the bench, in a fucking empty stadium. Should he have stared at the cameras instead? I was laughing when Clayton was pleading his case to Roberts on why he should stay in. He was having the game of his “life” and then sucked it up.
You boys in blue pull this shit so many times. Just eat it for once, and grow a pair of 2020’s. The Dodger broadcast turned of the field mics as soon as the ball left the bat. Then the announcers were all ” respect the Clayton, he was have the game for the ages, no one should act like that. Kershaw was just dealing, why showboating why …”
The Dodgers get into this type of news all the time, and are never the bad guys. FUCK YOU TOMMY!!!
One more season and we get 30 mil free and available for starting pitching. Can’t wait. Walsh/thaiss are more than enough to take over.
