LA Angels Thursday News Crash: Big Ol’ Curveball

Comet NEOWISE will be at its closest approach to Earth on July 23, 2020, to coincide with the start of the Major League Baseball season.  Is this a good omen, a bad omen, or just a big ol’ curveball?

Angels News

Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon were both among the top five in multiple offensive categories during the first 60 days of the 2019 season.  The MLB on Fox fans picked Mike Trout as the one likely to win the MVP award this year.  Mickey Calloway is impressed with the habits and routines of Shohei Ohtani.

News From Around Baseball

You just can’t please everyone.  People are debating whether professional sports leagues are being test hogs.  Basic supply and demand will probably sort this out eventually.  If we are seriously going to have baseball, then I personally want the players to be tested.  Joe Smith opted out of 2020 because of concerns for the health and safety of his family.  Or did he?  Sheldon Adelson is joining the bidding for the Mets.  Specifically he is joining the existing bidding group led by Josh Harris and David Blitzer.  In all, four out of the five groups that submitted bids for the Mets have advanced to the second round.

The L.A. County rule about 14 day quarantine for anyone coming into close contact with somebody who tests positive could make the away games against the Dodgers kind of tricky.  If anybody tests positive after the game, there will be video proof of who was in close contact (however that is defined).  Let’s deprive the Athletics of their fast start, shall we?  Miguel Sano is cleared to come to Summer Camp.  I’m kind of amazed they let him leave the Dominican Republic after that kidnapping and threatened hanging he did down there a couple of months ago.

It’d be comical to see A-Rod being an owner of the Mets, after so many years of demolishing opponents in a Yankees uni.

But also, to see so many bidders for a biz in an *unprofitable industry* really makes you think. 🤔🤔

right? “We lose money”. Don’t think so.

It would be interesting to see if either A-Rod or Jeter ever have success from this side.

It would be totally hilarious, LOLBAHX10M, or more maybe when the owners okay a new owner that they suspended for cheating against their corporation. I hope you get the chance to show’um how it is done Alex.

The guy cheats for years and is caught twice and someone said “sure ARod join our group, your good name will help us”, wow………….My bet is with the current Commish that they don’t get in, at least l hope he is that straight that he does not allow proven cheats to profit.

Think it’s going to be hard for Trout to win MVP if he’s out a good chunk of the year. Eppler made some comments about finding local hospitals for his wife to give birth, but I dunno, I’d be surprised if he misses less than a week and a half.

I missed the Sano kidnapping news. Looked it up and he was cleared by the DR police last month
