I wonder if Arte and Carp care about how bad a team that lost 105 games last year and just got to the second round of the playoffs with a $75M payroll vs ours at $179M makes him look? Pretty sure Quirky Joe’s salary is way bigger than Don Mattingly’s as well for CTPG/former HH fans who make a big deal about the incredible importance of team managers. Same people who are incensed that we don’t have Johnny Bench yet at catcher?
More history! So here’s Pomeranz, who hadn’t hit a batter since 2018, who had a 1.45 ERA this season, comes in for his lockdown inning and goes all Gary Lucas on us. By the way, Tatis had something in common with Adell on that play, although Jo’s problem is getting the ball to stick in the glove rather than throwing badly.
so when I was a kid, living in New York City, where they make the salsa, my Dad was a Brooklyn Dodger fan. He and I were watching them play the Cardinals on TV. I was playing 1b on my first Little League team so I watched both 1bs. Gil Hodges played there for LA (they’d already moved) and Stan Musial for StL. Musial, the lefty, got my attention and he became my very first favorite player.
But he ain’t there no more! and I’m solidly for San Diego here.
Sutcliffe is currently talking about 10th inning rule and 7 inning doubleheaders and he likes the 10th inning rule but not the 7 inning doubleheaders. I would not mind if the 10th inning rule started in the 12th inning and I think no on 7 inning doubleheaders. And have no issue with the DH in both leagues.
Well I can’t pick my nose or anything else as I am 1 out of 4 series in the AL and the one I got right was Rays. Picked Indians because I dislike the Yankees. I picked White Sox because I thought they ” were on a Mission from God” (Blues Brothers)but I should have known better. Why would I root for Houston and that Human Gnome? Did pick the Braves and the young cast of Kids and Freeman. But I also chose the Padres and that may not work. Dodgers will win the whole darn thing this year in a year nobody in 5 years will remember. And I think that Mattingly and Jeter are going to surprise in the first round over the Cubs. BTW Garrett Richards is pitching.
I’m about Baseballed out and there is one left. Although I did not watch the A’s win only because the announcing was so bad I left that one and didn’t miss it at all.
I am officially announcing my intention to jump on the Ray’s bandwagon. A fun story and they can break the MFY’s heart. Also I can never ever never root for the A’s. Go Ray’s!!
Not a big deal but it is a concession to the players for agreeing to this season’s madness. Manfred is going to change MLB to something you won’t recognize within a year or two.
I’m re-thinking the White Sox hate. I claimed earlier that I’ll root against them until 2105 when I’ll be over 150. However I detested KC in the 80s. I mean the Royals. Get Down Tonight is great as is Shake Your Booty and, of course, the Red Baron will always be a favorite. Anyway, there are many teams that I dislike more now than the Royals. And it’s only 45 years later so theoretically I might feel more inclined to not hate the Chisox in 2150.

Maybe Wil Myers was worth it for SD

My brain read this in Vin Scully’s voice, that was fun.
heh…meanwhile this is what we want Adell to do. Homer twice in a playoff game.
I’d even settle for Trout doing it…
And there you go. Boom!
The Padres are so fun.
Can’t give up on a game, can you? Nice work, Padres.
Braun is out for Brewers which is a good thing but there are 4 other MVP’s in the game. Can you name them?

I didn’t really do picks, but that isn’t bad logic.

I must zero confidence in the Brewers. I thought the Dodgers has won the series already when they haven’t even played the second game.

Rays is not at all a bad bandwagon to be on. In fact, I think I’ll join you!
Me too, oops me three.
I think the DH is going to be permanent. There’s no need to have it when it’s NL vs NL yet here it is.
I think it’s almost certainly permanent. It was coming anyway, probably.

A solid mathematical analysis.
it’s time, Slam Diego.
still could happen. 4-2
I have the feeling, after Wong’s dinger, that the Padres are toast.
Tough break with their 2 best pitchers getting hurt just before the post-season.
Can the Padres offense come back in this game? Yes. But the Q is their pitching. It ain’t there.
I dunno. The As just came back on the White a Sox.
The minor implosion of the Padre’s pitching from 3 weeks ago is something tragic.
A lot of game left.
True true, just tough to keep digging out of holes. The offense needs to wake the heck up.
Wainwright was 18 when Tatis Jr was born.
Wow.
I for one will be rooting for the A’s to beat the crap out of the ‘Stros. Maybe Laureano will punch Correa’s face in.
I’m not normally a fan of the As, but I am a hard core fan next series. Face punching is optional, but preferred.
fine with me. It’ll take 100 yrs to get the Pure#$%^&&#ski stink out.
100 years since 2005? So…only 85 years to get the Pureshitski stink out?
Checks out.
