Can the Angels get out of Texas please? I’ve hated games in the state of Texas even when the Angels were good. In the before times, in the long long ago… Now? With both of the Texas teams good while the Angels haven’t had a winning season in literally a decade? Oof.
Soriano tried to get a w in though. He was up against Patrick Corbin. Remember him? The Angels prospect turned trade bait turned world series winner for the Nats turned horrible contract? That guy was on Texas despite being one of the worst starters in Baseball the last few years. Surely Soriano can outdo him.
Well, Soriano went 5 and 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 10 hits striking out 2 and walking 2. So, no. He didn’t. That hurt. That one hurt a lot. What’s the opposite of a Cy rookie? Like, in age, but still expected to not be consistent or that good? Yeah. Angels got… Whatever that was. Corbin struck out nearly everyone.
Highlighted Recap
Rangers scored first with a couple of hits in the 2nd.
Add 2 more actually.
Meanwhile, Patrick Corbin was mowing the Angels down. He looked like the guy who won the world series in 2019, not the worst team in Baseball. But finally, in the 6th, the Angels finally scored on a bang bang play at the plate.
That’s all they could do though. At least this one wasn’t a shutout? Whatever. Angels lose a close one and their second series in a row.
Upcoming
One last one in Texas before Star Wars Weekend vs the Giants at the BIG A.
Holy shit. Turns out we are not as good as the Rangers or Astros. It also turns out that, if there is such a thing as average intelligence, than at least 49 out of 100 people will be below average.
Thus all the quivering ire when the team that is supposed to suck kinda sucks.
Man. We have a line up today that had six guys with OPS above .700. I would have let wolves eat like four or five of you guys to get that at the end of last year. But man, between solo homerism and the rest of the line up being total rally murder we just can’t score runs. Gotta get some guys firing on all cylinders at the same time here. There are gonna be games where our pitching staff gives up three runs. We need to win more of those.
I’ll state the obvious but, tomorrow’s game is an important one. Coming home on a high note at 10-8 will be a big psychological boost versus 9-9 and having lost 5/6. It’s only one game in the standings but, I think this one means a bit more than some.
You can’t chase wins every game but they need to nab one tomorrow.
Poop.
Welp.
The absence of offense has started. Sadly. They miss O’Hoppe and Neto. Thankfully by next week they should have both. The Newman experiment needs to be over.
Neto will be a significant improvement over who he replaces but I wouldn’t count on him too much to right the team offensive woes. And the Giants, who we play this weekend are 13-5.
DFA Newman and we score ZERO tonight. 😀
We hate your facts.
WTF CtPG Guys? Why do so many of you keep thinking/typing like Newman is a regular, was signed to be a regular, ever was a regular, and is being considered for regularness now?
He’s a bench infielder. The only experiment you are seeing is the team having no other players to start at the places they can plug him in. Why are people fixated on the man like he was a major FA signing who is supposed to be a big bat? And for the love of Gah what other option is hurr durring it’s way out of you brains right now? The MiLB players are less than two weeks into their season. No ones trading anyone to us. Waver wire pickups lookin good to you right now? Or has Lopez captured your hearts and dreams? JD Davis can’t play SS…. sooooo…. Ti Anderson at short and JD Davis at 3B? What’s the plan guys?
Got pitching, but no offense……
Go Halos!
For a team that we all decided would win 65 games this year I think 9-8 is pretty good
Except we were 8-4 and have now lost 4 of our last 5.
shhh
it’s a sprint, not a marathon!
Except, for a team that is supposed to only win 65 games this year starting out 9-8 is pretty good.
