The Angels had their mostly B squad at the Mariners today. It was a game where Matt Thaiss was behind the plate, who had a great day. With the win, the Angels are now 2-1 in the Cactus League for this short Spring Training.
Recap
Marsh and Adell went 0-6 with 4 strikeouts. They did not look good at all. Thaiss did, however, going 2-2 with a single, home run, and 3 RBI.
1st
Velazquez grounded out to start the game. Marsh struck out. So did Adell. Flexen is someone they will see plenty this season, so that was not a good approach for Marsh and Adell.
Reid Detmers had the start and looked to be in good shape as he sent down the side in order. The Mariners had their starting lineup today, which was good practice for Reid. Scoreless after 1.
2nd
Mayfield grounded out, to start the 2nd. Rojas doubled to put a runner in scoring position with one out. Taylor Ward flew out, but Matt Thaiss singled in Rojas to give the Angels first blood. Gatewood reached on an error, but he and Thaiss were stranded as Braxton Martinez struck out. 1-0 Angels.
Detmers went back out there for another inning, and while he did allow a hit, he also had 5 total strikeouts in 2 innings. Still 1-0 Angels after 2.
3rd
The Angels went down in order in the 3rd, Velazquez and Adell to grounders and Marsh struck out again. Flexen was still out there and the two Angels outfielders did not look good against him.
Janson Junk came in to pitch the 3rd. He was junk, allowing 2 runs on a walk and back to back doubles. 2-1 Mariners after 3.
4th
Rojas had a walk in between Mayfield and Ward flyouts. Thaiss brought him in with a 2 run jack, giving the Angels the lead again. 3-2 Angels.
For Junk’s second inning, things went better, while he allowed baserunners, none scored. Still 3-2 Angels after 4.
5th
Velazquez singled and stole a base. But that was it as Braxton Martinez flew out and Marsh and Adell struck out.
Jaime Barria got the mound in the 5th, and he pithed a clean 1-2-3 inning with 2 strikeouts and a groundout. Still 3-2 Angels after 5.
6th
The 6th was frustrating. Rengifo got a leadoff double, but was picked off. Ward walked but Rojas flew out and Wallach struck out.
Barria went out there again and immediately allowed a home run. Tied game 3-3.
7th
Braxton Martinez hit a solo shot to give the Angels the lead yet again. Stefanic doubled and scored on a misplay by the Mariners’ infielders on a grounder by Orlando Martinez. 5-3 Angels heading into the stretch.

Aj Ramos had the 7th, and while he did allow a baserunner, he did induce a GIDP, which got him out of the inning. Still 5-5 Angels after 7.
8th
The Angels went down in order with Wong flying out and Thomas and Lovelace striking out.
Oliver Ortega pitched the 8th and had a nice and quick 1-2-3 inning. Still 5-3 Angels after 8.
9th
Preston Palmeiro led off the 9th with a home run of his own, the third hit by the Angels today. Strikeouts by Whitefield and Sierra straddled a Stefanic walk, and he scored when Orlando Martinez doubled. 7-3 Angels going into the bottom of the 9th.

Jose Marte closed out the game, securing the win. It was a fast 1-2-3 9th. Angels win 7-3.
Light up the cactus!
Rengifo hit a double and got picked off?
It was a hustle double only to get hustled off of second base 2 batters later
Nice to know he still has the 10 cent baseball head.
Happens when you don’t have much experience being all by yourself on second.
That first Junk double was an error, hit right at the first baseman, who misplayed it. Not super significant but worth noting.
BOOM! Blasting the Peoria Mariners of Seattle!
We got nothing out of Trout, Upton, Walsh or Rendone today. This team is doomed.
Or Adell, or Marsh, or Stassi
I think I’ve seen enough. Pencil in The Plumber at 2B
As much as I would love to see that, based upon Soggy Joe’s comments, I think our hopes are going down the drain.
we better pipe up!
I’m out of the loop here, who have we nicknamed The Plummer?
Stefanic. After some old commercials.

Wonder if he still in the white pages?
I doubt it.
Thank ya kindly, sir.
Just so glad that rule5 draft was cancelled and we can see him here.
Not sure how much his D is a problem, but certainly I would like to see him more.
.667 will get us to the playoffs
I’d take .667 any day. That’s 108 wins.
