The only thing the Angels have over the Mariners is 2002. Both franchises are full of wasted potential and long stretches of bad baseball. We should feel very fortunate about that. It also means that our glass house is slightly more gorilla glass than theirs and we can afford to laugh at them as the only team to never even make the World Series. It is our right as division rivals.
Even our sites are rivals. Lookout Landing was our go to whenever we wanted to see schadenfreude, and with Washington passing a similar law to California, it is also following in OUR footstep as their fans are making their own site, free of Vox’s rules.
Which is why losing to them hurts. Not because we are above it, or them. But because these games are the only thing our fanbases have right now. Yes, yes, Mariners fans will say they are in 1st place, but that is king of shit mountain at the moment with how bad the AL West is right now.
Angels loss can only partly be blamed on Ryan Johnson. The pitcher went 5 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits, striking out 3 and walking none. Defense let this team down. And the offense. And bullpen really.

And then, in the 4th, after a throwing error, a 2 run single gave the Mariners the lead.
Despite only 81 pitches, and only 1 mistake, Johnson was pulled after 5. That was a mistake as the Farris allowed a BOMB.
And a 2nd one as well.
Angels had their chances, but did squat with them. Losing to the Mariners, now that is sad.
