The next Angels loss would be the 82nd of the season, yet another losing record. 10 straight losing seasons means we are halfway to the Pirates record of 20. Will the Angels match that? Not having a winning season until the mid 2030s is pathetic. It is also the 6th straight losing season of CtPG, and while we are not to blame for this, it does suck that we have never been able to celebrate almost anything here.
So will the Angels lose the game today? It seemed likely, as Caden Dana was on the mound against the best team in the NL. He went 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits striking out 4 and walking 3. Have the Angels already ruined him?
This was such a bad match-up that it was like watching 2 separate leagues. I mean, yeah, AL vs NL and whatever but I meant talent wise. This was unfair, and to make matters worse, Neto went on the IL, likely out for the season.
Highlighted Recap
Things went so badly there is little reason to even show it. Brewers scored. Then scored more. And then hit a home run that knocked Dana out. 5-0 and the Angels managed to have only 1 hit.
Well, the Angels DID hit a home run. No not Trou. Or Ward. But Denzer Guzman. Yes, in the 5th he hit his first career home run.
Oh and Christian Moore hit one as well in the 7th.
At least it is a game now. Or, it was until the Brewers scored again to make it 9-2. Why do I get my hopes up? Angels lose again, secure tenth straight losing season.
Upcoming
2 more in Milwaukee and then off to COORS.
There’s been, what, 60 different players this season? It’s like the Island of Misfit players. Where are getting all these people? What website?
There’s a guy playing named Kiboom, I thought the Terry Smith said Sh’Boom, like the old song. Where did he come from?
TGA looked good tonight, 5 IP, 1 run, 5 hits, 4 Ks, 0 walks, left with a 2-1, lead. Then Brandon Dufault (57 walks in 70 IP) came in and walked three, getting nobody out. All then scored as IE went down 4-2
Dufault has been a drag all season. 41 walks against 59.2 IP in low-A ball as a 26 year old. When they brought him in, I thought – oof, they’re just forfeiting this game.
Sure enough.
Jose Suarez would have come in handy tonight
It looks like the 3rd wild card team will need at least 88 wins so the Angels could still make it if they win 19 of their last 11
YESSS! So Meaningful! Very post season! Stand pat for the splat!
Hey, Guzman got a big hit, so did Moore. That’s nice.
That’s about it.
2026 That’s the year baby!
!
That’s why I go to giants and padres games in August and September!!
It’s difficult for me to grasp the complete awfulness of this franchise from top to bottom.
Shit always starts from the top and piles at the bottom.
14 Ks. I knew the Angels had to whiff 13 times per game for the rest of the season to set the all time record. They’re off to a start of some kind.
But it is disappointing that they didn’t best their 18 Ks of last game, I was really pulling for 19 Ks or the pinnacle of 20 Ks.
11 more chances. We can’t give up hope
Nice alliteration. Best part of the summary.
The theoretical MLB regulars in our line up, the 1st 5 batters, were 0-19 with 9 Ks. The guys we’ll be building our team around.
76 K’s in past five games.
Officially another losing season.
Same as it ever was.
Bad Baseball Bros Boiled badly by Brewers
To quote Mike McDaniels, “to win games, you have to win the game and not lose the game, honestly. And that is how you lose the game.”
Tough to win games when the top 5 batters in the lineup go 0-Fer with 9 K’s.
The fat kid is cooked.
Hey, Siri, what’s the best way to cook a trout?
Pan fried of course!
On the bright side Rendon will try to make it back next year. Maybe we’ll fire Wash too. That’ll fix everything.
