Angels Dominate

Fun one tonight. The Angels flipped the script at Angel Stadium with one of their best all-around showings in weeks, jumping all over the Twins and riding a relentless offense to a commanding lead.

Los Angeles came out firing in the first, pushing across three runs behind Trout and Yoán Moncada’s singles, plus some heads up baserunning from Ward and Rengifo. The bats didn’t slow down. In the fifth, Rengifo punched a single through to bring in Moncada and moments later Taylor added on with an RBI knock of his own.

The knockout came an inning later. Ward and Trout reached and then Taylor crushed a three run homer to dead center, stretching the lead beyond reach. Ward stayed hot with another RBI single right after as the lineup piled on.

The Angels’ staff kept Minnesota in check, scattering hits and stranding runners while the defense backed them with clean plays. Through six innings the Twins had no answers while Los Angeles looked locked in at the plate and in the field.

Moncada launched a two run shot of his own (375 feet) giving the Halos a commanding 12-0 lead. Nearly the entire lineup has contributed tonight, with Trout reaching base multiple times and Rengifo continuing to drive in runs.

The Twins tacked on a couple pity points at the end off a Fitzgerald homer. Tonight, the Twins couldn’t keep up with us at all… Angels win 12-2!

It’s sad. I watched the game but I just don’t care. The main thing I was stoked on was the fact that Teodosio continues to be in the thick of the shit a lot of the time. Stats are still lame, but he seems to get the most out of his scant production. That and, though Peraza’s stat line is still ugly he’s boosted his offensive output by what? A little under 20% since he started actually getting ABs? Last 20 games he’s what? 10 for 47 or something? At least a couple extra base hits?

Not saying he’s GOOD by any stretch but it does make me think if he got 400 ABs next year and he doesn’t get jerked around a lot he could settle in and hit .250/.330 with ten HR or something. Combine that with defensive versatility and I’ll be glad to have it on the roster.

That’s how bored I am with meaningful baseball. I am dreaming about future bench depth.

I would like to see Angels not put players at positions they are bad at: Rengifo at 3B, Peraza at 1B.
Angels cannot afford to throw away a game here and there.

I would also like to see Angels pick either Teo or Peraza (I choose Teo), but not both.
You cannot have 2 hitters batting 0.200 for a season.

The 66ers also won tonight, despite a nightmare third inning where TGA walked the bases loaded and gave up a grand slam, all with two outs.

Fortunately, those would be the only runs the 66ers would give up all game, and 11 hits from the bottom five in the order would be enough to edge the Dodgers club by one.

My boy Ubaldo Soto picked up TGA with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief and got the win, and Quintero, who I bragged on earlier, was 2 for 4 with a double.

Game 2 is Thursday, where I’d expect to see Jordan take the mound.
