Atlanta is the home of the Braves. And you had to be brave to watch this and expecting a slug fest. While many a fan can appreciate a low scoring game, others also see it as boring. For those who love offense it was not a game for you. Nor expect many highlights.
It was Tyler Anderson out there in a very intense pitching duel. He went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on 4 hits striking out 7 and walking 2. So that means he will get the win right? Haha. No. Neither SP would get a win. That’s why it is called a pitching duel.
Highlighted Recap
It was a nice pitching duel filled with pitching and defense. Stuff like a leaping catch by Neto.
Anderson lasted 6 innings and it was still scoreless. It was now a battle of the bullpens. Which one sucked less?
Someone finally scored when Jo Adell doubled in Trout in the 8th.
Soler then drove in 2 more.
Rengifo drove in a 4th run with a hit of his own.
The bullpen did their job. And then so did the offense. Up 4-0 heading into the 9th.
Jansen came in for a non save situation. And the Angels win!
Upcoming
2 more games in Atlanta and then up to Toronto.
Did we get a fiddle made of gold?
I think it’s pretty clear that what doomed us from the start was Atlanta moving a meh pitcher to face us in game one leaving us to face the wrath of a horrible pitcher when Kuchi pitches for us tomorrow. It’s the kind of chess that real POBOs and managers play and it’s why we have to get rid of…
Oh wait. We won. I knew…. wait, I always said we would.
At least O’Hoppe still sucks. I can rail on that for a while right? Gotta be at least one turd in this bowl of Cheerios I can chew on….
O’Hoppe’s defense and handling of the pitching staff has improved.
It has gotten better. It was comically bad. Now he looks OK. Just gotta make some contact now…. I think he will.
I’m still thinking that some time in the minors might allow him to reset. I do like that his defensive shortcomings are now costing him playing time. Great dude, super hard working guy by all accounts and his strengths may be causing him to reach.
Does anyone else find it weird that lately we are winning the Lionshare of the weekday games and the games on Saturday but cant win to save our life on Fridays and Sundays?
Since June 1st we are 13-0 on Mondays thru Wednesdays, 3-1 on Saturdays but 0-1 on Thursdays & 1-8 on Fridays/Sundays. That cant be a coincidence . WTH is going on?
Well, F#ck Friday and Sunday! Gotta be something that Artie is doing!
It’s witches.
It’s trAdition to lose on Sundays. Has been that way for years.
Well, I do know that we have lost 6 straight Sunday Home games, which is almost unheard of… even the likes of Colorado, Sacramento and Washington haven’t done that. Not even close. The Nats are next worse with only 4 straight…Makes you wonder if too many guys are going out partying on Saturday night or something ??
Sunday are day games. Maybe the sun is a deadly laser and they can’t do well in it after fireworks
Home Sweet Road! Or is it, Road Sweet Home?
Our home away from home.
Home, home, on the road, where Jo and the Angels play.
County Road Take Me Home.
Nice, kick them while they’re down. Kuchi for the w to them above .500.
We are eating good tonight in the A
It’s a tough call, but I think TA was the Panther tonight.
Agree. 6 shutout innings was totally unexpected and gave the team a huge lift.
If we do the “3 Stars” NHL style it would be :
1) Tyler Anderson
2) Jo Adell
3) Jorge Soler
MVJO!
Co-Panther.
Yup TA. Like a rock. Boring. Solid. Rock.
TA was nails.
Bullpen was nails.
Soler with a nice game.
JOly is off to a good start. LTBU !
rec’d for the JOly ref
If Adells hot streak surpasses his slump in length do we start believing in this Jo. I mean sure, he’s not gonna drop a dime OPS on us every month, but how many months does he have to be above .850 before we start thinking it’s what he does?
WellJo’s heater has now reached 50 games and almost 180 Plate Appearances. I just find it fascinating that it took a little over 1000 Major League Plate Appearances spread out over 5+ seasons and the light finally turned on for him. It makes you wonder what type of major League career he would have had with another 500+ At bats in the minors before his ascension.
I dunno. He was murdering the minors most of the time. It’s just, he’d come up here, and there was always something screwing with him…. defense so horrible it’s a distraction…. can’t hit off speed…. can’t hit fastballs… can’t hit round balls… needs to learn CF again…. did he get hurt somewhere in there too a couple times?
He seemed kind of fragile mentally, just my guess, but he was young. Now he’s literally had the entire list of issues happen to him over 2 years worth of PAs and failing hasn’t killed him…. he might just be comfortable enough that the talent is taking over and he’s seen a lot of what can get thrown at him.
I was really hoping for this earlier when the FASTBALLS were an issue with him and his 90 percentile bat speed. I figured that BS wasn’t gonna last. Here’s hoping he just settles into being solid.
But I don’t really buy the “org was the issue” shit with him. He looked overwhelmed a lot earlier on. That’s who he is. It’s not like having a .900 OPS in Durham for an extra year wasn’t gonna make him a young basket case in Tampa. Now he looks comfortable and he’s hitting the way his size and swing always made us wish he would.
