Poor Kikuchi has yet to win with the Angels. Not for lack of trying. The offense is just… Bad. Today he went 6 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits striking out 6 and walking 1. Not enough for a win. Sorry. Didnt get a loss though. So there’s that.
What was really infuriating was how badly the Angels botched any opportunity to score. Like 2nd and 3 with no outs and getting nothing. Not even a double play type of thing just… Bad baseball. Berrios isn’t the best pitcher either but he may as well be when facing the halos bats.
They did have a chance of redemption with the bases loaded no outs in the bottom of the 9th down 4-2. And Soler came through! ANGELS WIN ON A WALK OFF!

This was a pitching duel. Not only that but a strikeout heavy low baserunners pitching duel. So the first highlight would be when the Blue Jays broke the 0-0 tie with a single in the 6th.
Well, that was that. A loss again for Kikuchi huh? Not if Mocada has anything to say about it!
Now all the Angels had to do was to outdo the Blue Jays bullpen. And Wash brought in Detmers… Yeah Detmers is done. Somehow the best pitching prospect the Angels had in almost 20 years and the Angels ruined him so hard that he is now the dreaded in the bullpen. The Jose Suarez of 2025. Except Jose Suarez was not as bad in 2025 as Detmers is. Seriously. Because guess what, Detmers faced 3 batters. 3 base hits and left game. WHY BRING HIM IN?
So they had to bring a new arm in and- more runs.
The Angels needed a miracle. I’ll take a Paris home run.
Mocada has been back at 3B for 2 games and has already been great. Like this great defensive play to keep it close.

Had fun with some of my farm Angels players and families. My son needed to go to bed and the game seemed hopeless.
Great comeback effort and heart shown last few games. Moncada has really been noticeable in a positive way. Soler building up some trade value too. Neto quickly becoming one of my favorite Angels.
For the love of God, please no more Detmers in the bullpen. He is a starter and nothing else. Use him properly or find a manager that will.
I don’t understand this new source of WashRage. Detmers has sucked. He was good in the pen. Now he is bad at pitching. Is there some magic I have never heard of where obviously he suddenly is no longer Detmers if they give him MORE INNINGS?

the story of many pitchers…of many hitters, too but I’m looking at former Angels pitchers who were good and then they weren’t. Ron Romanick, 12-12, 3.76 followed by 14-9,4.11, then 5-8, 5.50 and done at the age of 25. Parker Bridwell! Dylan Bundy! Some guys have productive 10 year careers. Most don’t.
I’m trying to understand why Wash is stupid for…. NOT putting a failing Detmers into the rotation?

I understand that we aren’t going to be competitive this year and that means we don’t have much to gain by firing Wash mid-season.
But my goodness can we please get rid of him and bring in competent coaching for the sake of player development and maybe maybe giving a couple guys the chance to build up enough value to be worth trading in a couple of months?
