LA Angels Wednesday News Crash: LWCS Starts

Morning Angels fans. From now until the end of the World Series, any Angels News will be sparse. Enjoy the links I guess.

Angels News

Thank you MLBTrade rumors for giving us something. Arb projections are out and this is what it looks like for the Angels.

Keep this in mind, for it will help us later

Caden Dana made the All MiLB team! Woo prospect!

Oh and some MiLB players have elected FA. This includes 2 Angels. Cole Tucker and Willie Calhoun.

Around Baseball

Game 1 of the WCS has ended and here are your winners: Mets, Padres, Royals, Tigers. Win today and they move on. Lose, and it is winner take all on Thursday. Braves, Brewers, O’s, and Trasho’s are all on the verge of elimination. Double tap Houston please.

Speaking of Houston, that is now 6 straight losses in Houston for the Trashos in the playoffs. Make that 7 today please.

And Verlander isn’t on the Trasho’s Playoff Roster. Retire already Bush league man!

In non-playoff news, the Marlins are firing everyone, even the Clubhouse attendants. Bloodbath is very apt.

Sports Gambling is addicting, and Apps exploit it. Do well, your bets get limited. Do so in the middle of the night, get bonus money. Yeesh.

So is Neto and O’Hoppe the next two stars who will watch other young stars play in the post season while they don’t?
Trout and Pujols, Trout and Ohtani and now Neto and O’Hoppe.

I am really enjoying the Royals, Tigers and Padres. Diggin the Brewers and Orioles too… shame they gotta play a team I like. It’s NEXT round where we get into some negative rooting where teams I truly don’t want to see win start playing. Fk dem DoyKees.

America will get Mets:Dodgers for the NL Pennant and Yanks playing for the AL Pennant.
And they will like it.

Ahh, the vast MLB conspiracy to screw all other teams in favor of the Yankees. But how come they haven’t won anything in such a long time, with those thumbs on the scale favoring them?

Looks like Diamond/Bally’s is ending current contract with every MLB team but Braves. Angels can try to negotiate a new contract (assuming some of reason is for Diamond to get streaming rights in new deal) or move on.

Ouch. That is a huge chunk of money for Arte, which covered his payroll obligations. That’s why he wanted to scale back payroll, along with the Cardinals and a lot of other teams. Not b a good offseason to be a free agent or Scott Boras. Until these TV/Steaming contracts are worked out, no team is going to want to spend significant money, except maybe the Doyers.

Yeah but writing was on the wall there for a while. He had a chance to sell the team at a very high # before this happened and decided not to. Its his bed, he can lay in it.

Maybe his unfinished business is to start his own streaming/network with Angels baseball and a few other things sprinkled in, going back to the model that Gene Autry had, where he owned a radio station and a television station, only modernized to streaming. I mean, who wouldn’t want to pay a low fee of $6.00 a month for Arte TV. 24/7 programming of Angels baseball, infomercials, Murder She Wrote reruns, and “backstage in the Angels war room as they prepare for the Winter Meetings and free agency” and ALL of this fine programming hosted by Roger Lodge!

I’m in! $6 per month to watch my Angels is a huge bargain over paying for MLB.tv. Get the Rams to do the same and I’ll be set!

I think I’d pay $20 a month, but not more than $140 a year to see angel games. I think a more realistic fee would be $10 a month, but I’m guessing it would be higher. I’d love an MLB type channel that focuses on the Angels somewhat like how the MLB app or the Athletic lets you choose a primary team, but you see other content as well.

I am actually interested to see what teams do. Some team out there, the Brewers? The Twins? Some team where necessity makes them create some sort of “online focused” subscription model to go along with a regional TV deal

in the NHL, lots of teams are moving towards their own streamers.

The Ducks and Stars are sharing one that is totally free if you’re in their geographic market. They just keep the ad revenue but no subscription fee.

Dbacks. You have to buy a separate MLB package. I never did. So even though I have full MLB package, I’m blocked out from the team 10 miles north in the city where I live without coughing up another $50.

That is a rough one. Doesn’t surprise me but don’t expect Arte to spend much on payroll in ‘25. Attendance likely to be significantly down as well.

Yesterday’s post, for some reason posting was closed?….
Pete Rose was my favorite player growing up. His relentless work ethic made it hard not to root for him. He played every game like his life depended on it, and that’s why he stood out. He’s the only player whose autograph I ever cared about getting. His desire to compete and win made him great. But as a manager, he did the exact opposite. He broke the cardinal rule of baseball by gambling, which compromised the integrity of the game. He didn’t give his all in some games, choosing instead to bet on the outcome for personal gain. While I don’t wish ill on anyone, and it’s debatable, Rose doesn’t belong in the Hall of Fame, even if his lifetime ban has been lifted.
On a lighter note, whoever thought All-Star teams should wear a standard league uniform instead of their team jerseys didn’t exactly break baseball’s sacred rules, but they definitely deserve a serious talking-to—if not a punch in the nose.
And speaking of questionable decisions, even though Brandon Drury is statistically one of the worst hitters in baseball, I’d still give him another shot next year if I were on a team going nowhere. I’m sure Perry would agree with me.
The one constant in my baseball fandom? Hating the Yankees more than I love any other team. At least I always have a reason to stay engaged in the playoffs—until the MFYs get eliminated.

Today’s post…..
Sometimes I convince myself that the Angels’ farm system is improving, but then I realize it’s probably just because I’m hearing about prospects from CTPG. So, when I hear Caden getting some attention, it gives me a hit of “Hopium,” making me believe the system is finally turning around. But then reality sets in when I check farm system rankings, and the Angels are still in the bottom five across the league. That’s when the fear creeps in that we’re heading down the same path as the A’s, and Arte might be angling for a tank to leverage a new stadium deal. In a market as big as Anaheim, we should be a top-10, if not top-5, organization—not languishing at the bottom.
As for the playoffs, aside from rooting for the Yankees to lose, I’d love to see the Padres win it all, especially if they knock off the Dodgers. I love Ohtani, Friedman, and Mookie, but Dodger fans? That’s a different story. Can’t handle them.

There are far worse human beings than Pete Rose in the HOF.

How much would you be willing w
Pay Drury.

Scanning v the arbitration guesstimate list, it seems like Sandoval and Adell projections are a little too high.

I did. It’s not last years salary but service time. Ward was ok when he only cost 5M, not so much for 9m.

Ward and Sandy for me. Why would you pay Sandy to miss next year and comeback for 1 year. You’d be paying him 12M for the 1 year. I would trade both and save 15M next year

Good morning, Halo faithful,

I am getting ready to hear MLB’s hypocritical post-mortem praise and honor given to Pete Rose. While I fully supported Rose being booted from baseball in 1989, that was a lifetime ago and they let Rose attend a few MLB events in the past. The baseball HOF, and active ex-MLB players working for MLB are full of those convicted for far worse than what Rose did. At the 30-year mark he should’ve been allowed back-Murder’s rarely get 30-year sentences, at least not in California.

Oh well…..

Yeah rapprochement would have been nice. Then again, was he ever apologetic? Personality was a factor.

A few years ago, he said in an interview that I heard over the weekend, that he made a grave error for betting on the game and he should’ve been banned. His point was people convicted of far worse are in the HoF and/or involved ongoing with MLB. His main point was that it was over 30 years prior, and he felt that was to long of a penance to serve and i agree.

Pete Rose bet on games he had influence over and Shoeless Joe took money to lose games he played in. Neither should be celebrated, but I could accept both being in the Hall of Fame as long as their plaques mentioned why they got banned.

Of course, there are far worse people that have played the game and they should be punished accordingly, however, as baseball is concerned, he broke the cardinal rule drawing into concern the integrity of the game and should be banned for eternity. He was once my favorite player. Not anymore.

Exactly. When Rose played, there was exactly ONE inviolable rule, and it was (figuratively) carved in stone above every MLB clubhouse door.

YE SHALL NOT BET UPON BASEBALL, LEST YE BE BANNED FOR ALL ETERNITY

Rose knew the rule, and he knew what he was doing. In modern parlance, he f***ed around and found out.

No, the HOF is NOT “full of those convicted of much worse than what Rose did”.

He put himself ABOVE the rules of baseball, period.

He said to all of baseball, including fans: “Read my middle finger motherf’ers, I’m Pete Rose!” Then he denied for fifteen years, waffled for another ten years, and spent the remainder of his life WHINING about getting caught.

Realistically had he killed 3 people in a DUI, or shot someone in a parking lot, we would not be having this conversation – he’d have been first ballot. But he broke the SINGLE rule that could have gotten him banned, knowingly and willingly. He doesn’t get a pass for being stupid thinking he could “apply” for reinstatement.

Banned for life. That has always been the penalty.

Why should Rose get a PASS? I don’t like it personally, but no one should ever be above the rules, regardless of exceptional talent.

I’d rather have the all time hit record.

if I was him, instead of groveling, I would’ve told the HOF to piss off all this time.

he doesn’t belong there anyway but I don’t care about the HoF as i used to.
first things first- fix Nolie’s cap.
