As both teams are down their best players, it is a battle of depth. The young Detmers vs the old vet Kershaw in a potential 2023 matchup preview. Neither went as far as they could have, as it was still Spring Training after all.
The Angels batters got to Kershaw multiple times but, sadly, the Dodgers got to the Angels bullpen as well. In the end, the Dodgers came out on top mostly due to bad pitching.
Highlighted Recap
Ward started off the game with a leadoff homerun!
Neto knocked in another one to make it 2-0 Angels early.
The Angels got to Kershaw again in the 3rd, with a solo shot by Kevin Paldo.
Unfortunately, the Angels let the Dodgers back into it, with 2 in the 4th, and 1 in the 5th. On a positive note, it was almost much worse, as the bases were loaded with 1 out when the Angels were able to get a GIDP to end that inning.
And they got even more lucky since Neto saved a run with his glove.
They weren’t so lucky in the 8th, as after failing to score themselves due to some iffy umpire non home run call, the Angels bullpen allowed 2 runs to score.
Angels were about to lose, until Cabbage showed up, and showed why you need to eat your greens as he mashed a 2 run BLAST to tie the game back up.
It remained tied going into the bottom of the 9th, where the Angels walked in the losing run.
