Angels walkoff Rockies 4-3

As the WBC starts, the Angels who aren’t on those teams still have to prove themselves, and so do the Rockies I suppose. While some did impress, others did not, the result was a close WIN!

Highlighted Recap

Silseth messed up first, allowing a solo home run in the first inning.

Not good

It was the only run allowed in his 4 innings of work, however, so it wasn’t too bad.

Pitching depth is nice

Part of that was with help by his defense, like this outfield assist in the 2nd.

Better than Adell?

The Angels hitters gave him the lead in the 4th, scoring 2 with singles.

Unfortunately, Garza gave up one in the 7th to tie the game up. Then Diaz gave up one in the 8th. Rockies now led 3-2.

The Angels were going to lose, but, Jeremiah remembered he was a bullfrog and walked off the Rockies in the bottom of the 9th!

WALKOFF

Upcoming

Angels face Team USA tomorrow, with even more of the team being lost to the WBC team as Jackson, Adams, Cabbage, and Neto will be on Team USA for a day.

USA?

I bet they will enjoy themselves at least.

Catchers who can’t catch…….pitchers who can’t make a quality start…….infielders who can’t play SS. All needed in Anaheim. 💪
We should’ve traded Ryan O’Hoppe to Milwaukee in a major blockbuster package deal to get Wille Adames. That’s OK let the other guys get him especially after Gavin Lux’s injury. 😠 😢

We should totally trade Ryan O’Hoppe. That should be part of that IIWPM we are all STILL waiting for from you. You should flex it out soon right? Can’t WAIT to see it so we can all see how you’re not just a long pink/gray poop tube but a complete man with complete ideas.

I’ve not been able to catch any of the spring games. What are the thoughts so far? Yeah I know it’s really early.

Pitching looks really good, haven’t seen the starters hit enough to really say much of anything.

It looks like a bunch of guys having small sample sizes thus far, nothing to take away yet, accept Jordyn Adams. I was expecting even small sample Adams to hit like Squid, but alas he looks OK. If he continues to look solid in MiLB this year that’d be great.

If Adams is not carful, he will leapfrog Adell on the depth chart….and soon, if he hasn’t already.

But with those mad work out skills, Adell so is athletic he could probably leap frog Adams.

See, not really. Have you looked at Adells MiLB stats? It’s one of the reasons I don’t want to just shrug my shoulders and trade/give up on Adell. He has beast written all over him, he just brain cramps when he gets up to the MLB. I think if they focus on him being ready to “mindlessly” do his thing, like he does in the minors, he’ll be fine. He’s 23. His actual swing/defense/ etc are fine at AAA. He just needs his brain to “click” at the next level.

Adams could be great too… I just don’t see any reason he is sure to NOT have the same issues if he ever cracks the MLB. Unfortunately it’s not really even a “bad coaching” issue as much as players just need that day where they realize “oh yeah, it’s still just baseball.” and Adell’s not there.

Agree….only thing, Adell will need to show something this year. Some plate discipline, improved OBP, some improvement with pitch recognition.
He made improvements defensively last year, build on that. Agree that gaining confidence will go a long way with him. Hasn’t helped him being an early pick in round 1, if he was a 10th round pick, different view of him.

Liking Adams…don’t care that it’s only ST, looks comfortable out there.

I liked that he spent the offseason working out rigorously, but that jog to first told me differently. I was expecting all-out hustle, but no. Add that he’s struggling again. Perplexing

One of my thoughts is that previous GM drafted weighed athleticism to high instead of focusing on hitting skills. Eyesight and the ability to process what you’re seeing are important to hit a ball. I’ve read that people’s ability to hit is more based on the deterioration of eyesight than it is physical ability. Maybe that, along with poor development in the minors?
Maybe, let Adell do well in AAA then trade him?

Accept he’s never been able to hit in the MLB, and he always hits in the minors. So he processes fine…. until the stadiums are larger.

Man, I’m not sure who is letting down the old white guys who love scrappy white players who remind them of them crowd more… Stephanic or Fletcher.

I have not actually gotten to see Rengifo play SS this spring with my lylin eyes. How’s he doing? Anybody seen many of his innings? Anyone who can be objective and not just be butt hurt that we didn’t sign a free agent?

It’s lookin like Rengifo/Urshela are the front runners early.

As an old white guy, it is laughable to me to read the endless optimism for Fletcher (EXSTEINE 2POINTOH!) who dropped off a cliff with a bat, got injured. But now is GUARANDAMMTEED to “bounce back and have a terriffic season” after 2 seasons of 💩 .

Tony TwoBags I suppose because of his lack of paleness and grit is REN-DONE!!! TUERRIBEL ARTE!!!!

My hope is the improved coaching brain trust figures out what the Dodgers saw in Rengifo enough to want him.

I actually like smooth guys like Rendon who don’t have to look like they are trying super hard all the time. I mean sure, if he’s dogging it that’s lame, but clubhouses can use a cool customer every now and again.

I’ve always like football players who are like that too. Guys who can score a touchdown or get a sack and don’t have to act like it’s their first time every time.

Unfortunately, Rendon doesn’t look like hes trying when he sidearms his throws over the first baseman’s head.

And…. how many times has he done that?

Per games that he has appeared in? Way too much for my liking. Of course if your on the IL a lot you cant throw the ball away.

I already know the number of times he’s done it is the number of times it takes to make you complain about it. I’d like to know how many times he’s actually thrown the ball over the 1st baseman as an Angel. I don’t think it’s all that many times. It could be three times and dude will complain. Is it 100 times? The info is out there.

We lead the majors in second baseman hands down. 😄 Fun win. Silseth and Canning are really trying to be starters.
