LA Angels Tuesday News Crash: Coaching Changes

Here is a breakdown of what happened so far with all the Qualifying Offers and draft picks. The Angels lost their second highest draft pick plus $500,000 in international signing pool money when they signed Noah Syndergaard.

The Red Sox have finalized their coaching staff. I think the Angels still might have a vacancy or two. The Padres have also finalized their coaching staff. Finally, it looks like Mark Kotsay will be the new field manager for the Oakland Athletics.

The lockout drags on. There was a meeting last Thursday, but it doesn’t seem like they got very much done.

Left handed pitcher Andrew Suarez signed with the Yakult Swallows while right handed pitcher Colin Rea signed with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. If all the marginal pitchers go to Japan who is Perry going to sign? Gregory Polanco might also go to Japan.

The Reds signed Jake Bauers to a minor league deal.

Ender Inciarte signed a minor league deal with the Yankees.

Have you ever seen an umpire get ejected from a game?

This outfielder is nuts as far as I am concerned.

I’m not exactly sure what this guy was thinking.

There was a home run derby in the Bahamas. Royals catching prospect MJ Melendez won it.

Suggestion for the group- I belong to a Facebook group, Space Hipsters, that only allows commercial posts on the last day of the month. How about something similar for selling and trading memorabilia, bobbleheads, signed baseballs, stuff like that?

If I was on the maybe MLB/maybe minor league bubble I would definitely be looking to sign in Japan or Korea. They are far more likely to have a season and I can eliminate months of stress wondering if or where I’ll play.

Plus I think the life experience of spending a year or two in another culture would be incredible.

And get paid more than if you were a minor league player.

Not to mention what I am sure are better living conditions than in the minors.

Rengifo may be playing in the Venezuela Penal League.

If it was the California Penal League, he could have been playing with Ricky Vaughn.

Not if he doesn’t go to Venezuela or a country with an extradition agreement with Venezuela.

No one asked me but;…..Stupid with capital “S” showing up drunk to call a game, even doing bases. Termination should follow….. That catch by the LF’er was just awesome…..I think I would rather stay home than getting on an Airline trip or attend a Rams game. But that is just me…..Covid tested yesterday…..Omicron Variant has shut down a lot of venues and gatherings except the NBA and NFL games. Hopefully Spring Training will take place as usual…..6 days of rain and snow coming to SoCal, we may have a White Christmas after all. Sweet…..Have a good Tuesday afternoon and check your windshield wipers, and keep your presents dry…..

The Reds signed Jake Bauers to a minor league deal

I didn’t know that CTU was part of the Reds system.

I can’t wait for Jake to get kidnapped by terrorists for half a season.

An unintended consequence of the lockout is the sharp decrease in the number of dumpster-swelling pitchers on the market. Sorry, Perry.

marginal catchers and marginal infielders
