The Trade Deadline was good for the Angels. For the first time in Arte Moreno history, the team was actual, real sellers at the deadline. No just doing small deals, as big names Jose Soriano and Jo Adell were traded. Industry pros and our own Turks’ Teeth like what the Angels have done, and while we do not have the biggest names coming back, in the modern era of prospect hoarding, the Angels did do very good.
Soriano, Suter, Adell, Zeferjahn, and Yates are gone. Along with O’Hoppe and Silseth from a few days ago, the Angels trade 7 MLB players, their best SP, 4 RP, starting C, and starting RF. While this will sting, and make this team even worse this season, the Angels are not going to turn it around in 2027 anyway. Or even 2028 either. This is a tear down for the future, and while Detmers and Neto were not traded, the shopping around makes them prime offseason candidates for trades.
Jose Soriano is going to Toronto for prospects Arjun Nimmala (SS), Eddie Micheeletti (OF) and Angel Rivero (RHP).
Angels traded Brent Suter for an IF named Nacho Alvarez jr. Helmet Nachos with his name on it if he is any good.
Then, at 9:20 AM, the Angels traded Jo Adell to Cleveland. Guards are actually buying, and Jo Adell, the 3 home run robber himself, is gone. Jacob Cozart (C) is what the Angels get back.
Cubs deal with Detmers falls through. Still get Zeferjahn from the Angels. And for Moises Ballesteros (C) and Mason McGwire (RHP).
Kirby Yates to the pirates right as the buzzer goes off. Kyle Robinson (RHP) is the return.
While all this was going on, the Cubs and Angels were rumored to trade Detmers, but it fell through. Wee do not know why, but Cubs fans are disappointed. Again, Detmers can be traded this offseason, no need to rush.
